Morning runners! Just a quick post to say I got my vaccination today! The appointment was about 4k away so decided to walk it there and back to add a few Kms to our COGH total 💪🏻🤣
Got the Astra Zeneca jab, anyone had it and know if it will interfere with my planned run in the morning? I've heard side effects can last a couple days.

Yay congratulations on getting your vaccine! Everyone I know who's had the AZ jab has felt really, really tired and has taken at least one day off work because of fatigue and some also with cold-like symptoms for a couple of days. See how you feel tomorrow, hope it's not too bad 💉
Hiya, I had mine yesterday and ran in the morning beforehand.. didn't sleep well atall last night got up at five with a headache, armache not so bad just really tired, definitely not able to run.. I couldn't even face my usual rest day workout.. hopefully you will be fine.. and back to it after a day or so 🤗
Mine is this coming Thursday morning. No idea which brand I'm down for.
There is some reason to believe that those who already have some antibodies may have more of a reaction. People getting second doses soon will probably have a reaction to those even if they didn't have a reaction to the first jab. This is a sign that the first one alerted the immune system.
It would seem alot of us getting vaccine recently, had mine yesterday, about 11am, AZ too, so far just a mild achy arm, my work pals have had mixed reactions, maybe tonight might kick in, but was hoping for run tomorrow, will see how i feel. 🤷♂️
Hi, We also took good walks to the vaccination centres (different places, different days), also with COGH in mind. It hits people quite differently, it seems. This is our experience:
On return from his, M slept and also slept a lot day 2. Then all OK on day 3.
I felt absolutely nothing on day 1 (not even tenderness at the jab point). Overnight I developed chills (struggling to keep warm even under duvet+ extras). Continued feeling chilly into day 2, with jelly legs and light-headed ness. Day 3, all OK (just some tenderness at the jab site persisted for a few more days).
... We are so pleased to have had our first vaccinations. And I was really impressed by the incredible organisation and amazing volunteers at my centre.
Super fast. Helped that you walked too. Those driving and cycling had to wait for a bit in observation space before they could leave. Lots of people attending too, which was great to see.
Same experience here ! Had AZ jab on Wednesday and thurs was very tired but had to push through work - had difficulty sleeping though and took paracetamol at 0300 and then slept through till 0800 ! Thought I might go for a run this afternoon and either it was just laziness or wussiness I don’t know but I felt a bit light headed so decided not to risk it. But it hasn’t been bad. Though a friend of mine is laid up in bed the next day - totally out of it. And she’s had COVID back in December (I haven’t). So......it seems to vary. I’m just grateful to have had it !!!
I had mine last Saturday. Virtually no side effects here: a little ‘out of sorts’ the next day but nothing that needed paracetamol. I hadn’t run for a few days anyway due to a niggly back but would have skipped the Sunday run just to be on the safe side. Side effects do seem quite common with some feeling quite poorly - all so worth it though!Good luck with yours.🙂
Yes had AZ jab today 9.30am. Took my hound out did a nice 4k walk. Home around 3 and started to feel a bit 'weak' and tiredCooked the dinner then feet up on the sofa tonight, limbs a bit achey and am bit shivery, not bad enough for paracetamol. Now off to bed 😐
I felt fine after mine yesterday apart from a slightly achy arm. AZ. I walked the 2k there back and later in the evening ran a decent 6k. Felt fine. Waking up this morning after a fitful night’s sleep, I have a headache and feel tired, chesty and weak. Took paracetamol. Hopefully I’ll feel back to normal later today.
Had my AZ lunchtime Thursday and did a relatively fast 5k that afternoon. Shivers started in the evening followed by a very restless night. Yesterday (Friday) felt rough and SO tired but managed an hour's walk and have had a good long sleep. Most shocking symptom so far was a vivid nightmare but feeling OK today and will try a gentle 5k later. I'm sure you know your body well enough to know what's right for you
Had mine yesterday afternoon and feel fine today 😊. I’m not running today but have done my strength training 🏋️♀️. My hubby was fine too. We’ve both had covid so my theory is our bodies don’t have to work really hard to mount an immune response as they have already done it 🤔 but there is no scientific basis for that 😂😂. Hope you all have minimal side effects or recover quickly 🤗
Well done Jericho2332, I had the AstraZeneca jab on Wednesday and I haven’t had any problems at all. I went for a walk on Thursday then ran yesterday and this morning, again without any problems. Maybe you could see how you feel tomorrow before deciding what to do?
