COGH: windy, wet and cold

End of a tiring week so i thought an afternoon run was in order. Plenty of stretching as it’s blowing a gale out there and feeling rather cold. I opened up NRC and a 5k Tempo run came up so I chose that, hit start and headed off.

No sooner had I started, the heavens opened and down came the rain that wasn’t forecast 🤬 So do I turn back or carry on? I’m wet already and a bit of rain never hurt anyone right... carry on 👍🏻

It was then that I found out I had a 1.5k warm up run, a 5k tempo run and a 1.5k warm down run. A little further than I expected but I was feeling good and just wanted to be out in the fresh air so I headed off to my beach run route.

The run was really good, warmed up at a slow pace then 50-60% run and then a slow paced warm down. The run along the beach was interesting as the recent bad weather had thrown stones all over the path which made it a little tricky.

I ended up doing 5k in 53:37 and at the end of the run I felt rather good and happy that I didn’t turn back 😀

Well done on completing your run with you wet to start with. Not much fun . Did u do a total of 8km counting your warm up and warm down. ? It must be good to live near the seaside all we see here is fields of sheep and horses. Just have to wait till lockdown finished. I was out as well at 7 am did 5km 39 mins but cold wind , doing the Jeffing run/ walk. 😀

Yes my total was 8k including the warm ups/downs. The start was running into the wind and rain but it wasn’t too bad. I quite like the countryside as well, I’m really lucky that I can do either 😀
