Up at 5:15am today, new and bigger iPhone squeezed into the arm band holder I used for my previous one, as new phone holder yet to arrive in the post π¬. Was going to wait for it but NO I wanted to get out there and tackle 10k.
As I set off I was thinking I hope the arm band thingy doesnβt press on the off button half way through....oh well take a chance.....with track one of my go to album playing I set off...Coach Bennett on Nike Run Club app reassures me and allβs going well, first track ends, then silence....no more music....do I stop and fiddle about with it π€ no, crack on without music...so I pressed on in silence with coach giving me different things to think about throughout the run and bits of advice.
Reached the park which I know is 5k and lapped it twice, out through the gates and headed home....8k.....9k.....I thought this is good I can do this.....then I heard those wonderful words βyouβve done it 10kβ I was absolutely thrilled. Got home and our puppy Harvey was the welcoming committee licking my salty face.....I think he must have thought ooohhh look a giant salted peanut.....for anyone struggling stick with it, if this former couch spud can do it anyone canπ
TinyTears60 sent me an amended version of my pic showing my shiny new badge, she added Great Job....not me being big headed....honest π

Itβs does π itβs like graduating C25k all over again....Iβve completed a sub 30 5k and now Iβve run a 10k....,got nice new shiny Graduate10 badge too....lifeβs good π
That's an awesome picture! Congratulations on a milestone run!! It is a terrific distance and now you have done it I hope you'll take time to look at how far you've come and celebrate today π·
Thanks GTFC Iβll have a few drinks this evening to celebrate. Iβm always surprised how far Iβve come and still canβt believe it. C25k is life changing. I was 55 this year and Iβm probably the fittest Iβve ever been, itβs been a real positive in such a crappy year π
Thank you Forest_Run_Beginner π€ yes it felt great to run my first 10k today, and the Graduate10 badge you get is nice too. I did have a few beers to celebrate. Harves always gives a good welcome whether youβve run 10k or just put the dustbins out π he is cute though.
Thank you Cuppa242 π I was pleased with that one. I was a bit apprehensive about tackling 10k but itβs surprising what you can achieve when you put your mind to it.
It felt great and I still canβt believe that I can actually keep going without stopping for that distance to be honest. When I started C25k I was puffing and panting in makeshift kit feeling very self conscious and first time I went out early in the morning, one of the neighbours knocked the door that evening and asked me if Iβd seen a suspicious looking character run out of one of the houses along the terrace early in the morning as heβd been worried and knocking doors as he thought someone may have been broken into ! π³ couch to 5 years !
