The other evening Mummycav and I exchanged greetings on a post and agreed to do a virtual run on Saturday so here’s my half of it
Usual day off morning routine followed and there we were ready to go for a run, lots of discussion this morning about where to go, Over the South Downs? ha ha, there’s a place called Lancing Ring and 5k away there’s a place called Cissbury Ring, but Willow didn’t think he had 10k in his legs as he’s never been that far before. Our usual track round the park is going to be busy, but we decided to start there, and if it’s busy .... well it was, so we set off alongside the golf course, towards the sea, the sea front was also busy so we didn’t cross the road, turned right and right again steady running around the side roads.... it was quiet and rather uneventful but it’s the first time ever that I’ve got Willow running along a road.... 😀 he likes the park
It’s breezy out there and a balmy 11 degrees so my jacket was soon tied round my waist, hazy sunshine ☀️ and a steady pace
1k 9.28, 2nd k 9.22, 3rd k 9.22, 4th k 9.56 and 5th k 10.17
4th and 5th k we were back to the golf course and it’s muddy and squelchy still plus lots of changing direction around groups of people but so lovely and green and trees around the outside, so peaceful
Back to the car and Willow got in, I carried on round a bit of the park to get 5k in 48 minutes, not the fastest not the slowest, breathing steady, legs comfortable, that’s the happiest run for weeks, Mummycav hope your run goes well today too
Happy safe weekend all

What a lovely run you've had this morning. The weather sounds good after all the cold, it was 10° even up here this morning. I love the names of the places on the Downs, I had a holiday a few years ago back to near Aldershot where I grew up and then did a tour across the southern counties ending in Bristol to see my son. I do love the Downs getting that view of the sea.Now I want to go on holiday even more.... 😊
Oh wouldn’t a holiday be good? Lancing Ring is a ring of trees at the top of the Downs near here where we often walk, Cissbury ring is Roman I think, but a drive away it was only when we’d been there I realised the track along the top joins them both and it’s 5k so there and back would be a great run with great views I’m thinking our regular holidays in far flung countries spending time at sandy beaches and staying in all you can eat hotels is probably a thing of the past for now at least so exploring our local area has been a wonderful experience
Had to edit, Cissbury Ring is neolithic not Roman, It’s the or one of the earliest flint mines in the south and dates back 400 years BC
So my history is really rubbish as you can see
Excellent SueAppleRun at first I thought ey up strava art 🤦 great virtual running with a vrb 👍👍, c'mon Mummycav shake your into action 💪
I love Cissbury ring! Such an atmospheric place, that's taken me back to a very enjoyable road trip years ago 😊 well done on your run, sounds like a good one!
Thank you, we’ve been a bit in the running doldrums lately so it was good to enjoy the run today It’s a lovely area and Cissbury Ring has ponies which are lovely to see
I know that feeling! I went shopping this morning and was very pleased to see a gap in the rain this afternoon...especially since I’d had 2 rest days 😉
The path beside the beach is divided between cyclists and walkers / runners, so at weekends it’s no fun, I have a fear of dodging a family of walkers and being run down by a cyclist but it’s a path I have run when not so. yay, hearing the waves crashing is lovely though The side roads are really peaceful because there are less cars any day
Sounds like a nice run for you and Willow this morning - despite the lots of people out and about. You managed to avoid them by running on the side streets - 😁It seems to be the way of things at the moment - there is nowhere else for people to go I guess. One of our favourite birdwatching places was heaving with people today - usually you hardly see anyone there.
Yes the parks and seafront are always busy at weekends It was good to be out and having sleeveless tee shirt but I was very red in the face when we got back
Sounds a nice run Sola, there are so many people out there taking advantage of the milder weather now, which is nice, but also means you have to adapt your route. It’s still lovely to be out in the fresh air though enjoying the countryside, well done on completing 5k 👍🏃♀️🏃♂️
I'm playing catch up with folks' news as always 🤣 great picture of your run Sola, and great description, I always feel like I've had a few minutes of sea air after reading about your runs 😁 I've really enjoyed running up and down the local streets since I started C25K, it's a whole new world that's been right on the doorstep all the time! Well done on your lovely 5k 😁👍
Thank you, i like running along streets abs looking around me, i shall be glad when shops are open and everyone goes shopping so i can run along side the sea lol
Oh me too and I like going somewhere, I’ve just discovered i can plan a route of any length on my Garmin so have created several and it’s interesting to see where i would go but I’m very much a look and decide on route type person
