Who the heck is in our park?

We pulled up by our usual park running track to find it full of people, oh my word what are they doing? milling around and then they set off running and walking round “our” track! they were everywhere so between that and the pong from the sewage plant that has been particularly bad lately I suggested the beach, expecting Willow to get back in the car and drive the half mile to where we park near the beach but he set off along the side of the golf course so i followed

We arrived a few minutes later at the seafront and once the lights changed crossed the road set off along the joint walking path/ cycle path, we ran a gentle course towards town amongst runners walkers and cyclists, bit busy but lovely and turned just past 2.5 k

The sky was blue the sun was hot and the sea was beautiful a swim was discussed but i had to go out to visit a friend so we turned back agreed once off the road that we don’t much like the drone of traffic, Willow headed to the car at about 4k and i carried on a bit longer so i could get 5k so just over 5k i was back at the car to find Willow sat with the roof off “are you having a nice time?” i asked no he said, he’s just put the roof down and a seagull flew over and deposited his breakfast all down Willows tee shirt and face which i’m sure is supposed to be lucky but Willow didn’t think so

Running is getting slower 49 minutes for 5k today it’s time i lost my smoking weight my legs feel every ounce of the 12 pounds i’ve put on this year

Happy running friends

Poor Willow, I don't think that's lucky either😟 So glad you managed to find a suitable area to run and a steady 5k which is not to be sniffed at excuse the pun😂. I'm afraid lockdown hasn't helped my weightloss and I'm feeling it on runs now too. I hope you reclaim that track soon. The cheek if some.😂

Ha ha, we were surprised to see so many people jogging or walking along the track but beach front is good and there are lots of places locally to run we are so lucky

How lucky you are to be able to run along the beachfront. Great run for you both.

I'm sorry, I laughed when I read the bit about the seagull and Willow. 🤣🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Oops, cheeky seagull! Poor Willow, but who knows, he might be endowed with some fabulous luck after that! 🐦

Well done on your improvised run. It sounded fantastic. I know exactly how you feel about “your” track. I get the same feeling when people use my common like it’s theirs! The nerve! 😅

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply to cheekychipmunks

Ha ha yes the nerve, 😀it’s been busier since lick down started, first there were the dog walkers then came the meet up outside people next the families on scooters and bikes, then picnickers but we’ve never seen about 30 runners filling up the track, my nd you the sea was worth a run by

I’ve gained a few too many extra pounds too over the past few months and I’ve slowed down. I’m going to work on both of those things over the next few weeks. I found that weight loss and speed went hand in hand last year. I definitely feel those extra 10 pounds now. I’m shedding them as I write. Glad that Sea Gulls breakfast landed on a T-Shirt and not on the inside of the car. Much easier to clean. Well done, great to be running.

We lost weight last year then i gave up smoking and it crept back fast plus some but it’s steadied this last month so maybe will be able to shift it

Poor Willow, he should have kept running with you 🤣 that's loads of minutes you've been running recently, never mind the speed, it's hard work in the heat. Isn't it lovely to have alternative routes especially on busy days. Happy running 🤗

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply to Grannyhugs

I like that we have run more in the last few days just by going to different places

Just keep going that's the main thing and for as long as you have the inclination to.

i would run walk all day but Willow has his limit plus a friend fell and broke bones and i’d promised to visit

Look at this way, Willow might have been looking up with his mouth open....that would have been really unlucky! You are both doing brilliantly. 👏👏👏👏👏🙂

I’m desperate for longer distances but it’s just too hot and only day off this week had to fit a lot in

You’re right... it is lucky 🤣

Great running... and how rude of people to be using your park like that without permission?!

I couldn’t believe how many there were a whole club load lol but the seafront although busy was beautiful

But you were out there so well done you! How frustrating that ‘your’ running site was overrun - I mean, really, don’t these people realise?! Poor Willow - I really feel for him! Growing up in Newquay a million years ago, we used to think it was massive luck if a seagull did it’s business on our school hats! It was the only reason we wore them really! Don’t worry about your speed, you know of at least one other person who runs at the same speed- me!

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply to Oldgirlruns

Yes I love that i know we run a similar speed, he’s got over it now, all those people we’ve never seen them there before in our tuesday morning run, working 2 late shifts before the end of the week so i think we might not run again until the weekend

I look out for your posts and have been doing strength and flex for knees ankles and feet for ages it does make a difference

OldgirlrunsGraduate10 in reply to SueAppleRun

Think I probably need to do some of those! Happy running!

Thank you, you’ve made my day. Loved the post and you cheered me up.🤣

Here I am getting slower and slower thinking I’ve put on toooo 😳much weight over “lick down “ ( icecream, chocolate , biscuits and cake) Just to name a “few!!!” 🤣 treats .

Just off try running again . Slowly does it. 🤞

SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply to

Aww it’s also the warmer weather that is draining, take it slow and steady, it’s not really about speed but about how long you can keep going I think we just sneakily look at our speed and wonder if we can go faster lol

I want to be where you are Willow and Sola. Not the seagull obviously but for better weather. Since we’ve got home it’s been pants. Today is fair tipping it down and the long range is similar. Beware what you wish for folks...I so wanted to be home...now I could really enjoy some Portuguese ☀️ on my shoulders. Happy running peeps. Keep up the great work W and S. x
