Lovely sunny day today, perfect for a run. Gremlins got me most of the morning ππ and a leisurely read of the Sunday papers.. finally made it out... to what was clearly peak couples and families walking time, with associated scooters, dogs on retractable leads, bikes, mobile phone addicts π¬π¬ Yay! A quick change of plan on the route to avoid the masses (Iβm such a sociable runner ππ) and it was game on for a possible long run.
Well, my head was not in the game for the first 4km and after Fridayβs gazelle run, this was not flowing like it should - at one point I even entertained the idea of having a little stop but NO!! Mustnβt stop took over and I pressed on and by 6km, I found I was in quite a meditative headspace, just jogging along, knew I wasnβt going to be breaking any land speed records today, my pace was steady, everything felt good, I even noticed first signs of spring around me on my canal route which was just lovely, buds forming on trees, daffodils pushing up through the ground.. ππΎ
Thought Iβd do almost a full loop so took it to 8.2km and felt that was about right for today.
Happy Sunday runs everyone π

Lovely run, there. You seem to be running later these days (or am I just imagining it?) but it seems to suit you and yields some enjoyable meditative runs (once you escape the crowds!)
Youβre absolutely right. I have been going out later for my runs! Iβve honestly struggled in these dark and damp winter mornings to motivate myself up early enough to get the run in before I have to be βat workβ working from home. And I have no excuse this morning on a Sunday other than just not getting myself motivated until midday π I kind of miss my early morning runs where everywhere is so much quieter. Plan is to get back to them once we start to see lighter mornings. How is your ruining going? Not sure Iβve seen any of your fab βmindfulβ runs being posted of late unless Iβve missed them.
Well, thank you. Just posted (in single post) my last three runs (work seems especially intense at the moment).
You can be relaxed about the running time. Not everything works consistently, and sometimes we can embrace that. No need to reprimand yourself! I was only wondering if the later run time had contributed to some positively enjoyable runs.π
Well done you another solid 8km in the bag ππ» I'm also a top "sociable" runner and avoid the times/places I know will be busy π€£ I didn't notice any daffodils popping up today but I have noticed it's getting lighter earlier already and have to say I'm looking forward to spring π€£
Another good run and distance- I like to go out early too as I hate the thought of constant people dodging-I did 6k yesterday but I was late starting so did the treadmill again rather than facing the crowds. Going to stick to some shorter ones next week I think until I build myself back up- Iβll enjoy watching you gazelles hit the big numbers for a bit ππ»π¦π
Wow, well done on your 6k on the treadmill again, and all that after your timeout for COVID..great you can still smash out a 6k! Early morning runs are far superior to later runs in my mind, planning a return to morning runs soon when I can shake off those gremlins. You'll feel free as a bird out there on your runs this week, but you're right to take it easy(ish!) as you get back into the swing of things, but you have your fitness to build on and you'll get back where you were smashing 10kms again before long ππ¦π₯
Sounds good, was the canal busy for you? I now know why people do early morning runs! π€£ the sun, certainly brought everyone out today, so a nice steady 8.2k for you, which as you had, only briefly π€£ thoughts of stopping, is quite a distance really, and your pace π₯΅ you'd be the gazzelle, overtaking me, at speed! π¦ cant remember the last time i bought a newspaper! π€£
Strangely enough, my canal route wasn't too bad - it was more the paths leading to and around the parks I had to avoid and skip around people. And annoyingly the entrance to a short cut through to a new/possible 10k+ route I'd planned was jammed with people, kids, buggys and bikes so I had to run past quickly calculating a new route. My face = π‘ lol. It's all about the route planning these days!Who have I become? π€£π€£
