Last Sunday Mr S and I took Ben for a little walk along part of one of the many circular walks here in the Dordogne, chosen especially to see if it could be a new running route ๐ Although we drove down to Pomport, I reckoned if I set off from home, it could make a good new 10k route. So, this morning, sun shining but a lovely cool 13c I decided to give it a go. Straight across the grass track between the vines behind the house, a short stretch along the main road, then turned left between the restaurant and the bakery onto a quieter country road towards Pomport. Just before the village I turned left again onto an even quieter road, then turned off uphill into a vineyard for the next couple of kms with a nasty steep uphill rocky path through a wooded bit, which I walked in order to avoid turning my ankle. Another grassy uphill bit, then back out onto the road for the last section. After walking I never really fully got back into the rhythm and I slightly miscalculated, as I reached 10.6k by the time I got back to the bakery and warmed down for the last few hundred metres. Made a change and in a time of 1:07:34, my fastest French 10k this year. It felt a bit hillier than it seemed on the walk and I notched up,115m of elevation gain. Must be getting better at hills ๐ Nice route through some lovely countryside ๐
New French 10k route: Last Sunday Mr S and I... - Bridge to 10K
New French 10k route
Sounds lovely, I'll hopefully be out and about this weekend, I've been jogging around the house barefoot to strengthen my knee a bit
13C sounds good. Here near Perpignan Iโm getting out at daybreak when itโs โonlyโ 20C !
Always a good idea to walk/drive a route first. Is finishing at a bakery not a bit dangerous?
Thatโs some uphill elevation. Is it split or one long slog? Congratulations on fastest 10 km. ๐
Lovely photos Sandie and that sounds a gorgeous run. And well done on the fastest French 10K ๐๐
Beautiful pics and a lovely run Sandie! And how lovely to have cooler temps too. ๐ฅฐ
This sounds so lovely, especially the vineyards ๐ท that's a super run and time too. Well done!!
Looks lovely. That's a good distance. I hope the bakery was open on your way back? Can't beat French bread. No 'pain' no gain as they say ๐
Haha! The bakery was open but I forgot to take my face mask, otherwise Iโd have popped in for a chocolatine or a pain au raisin
Lovely pics Sandie, donโt they mind you running between the grape vines? ๐๐๐๐
It looks beautiful, must be a lovely place to run ๐
I was near there a few days ago, motorhome overnight stop at Chรขteau Malfourat !
OMG our house is actually in the Chateau Malfourat vineyard. Wish Iโd known!
OMG indeed, and me too!
From your description I was thinking hang on, that's really close to where we were, but I'd no idea we were *that* close!
We live in France, but in the Massif Central, and we're heading back home now, staying just south of Cahors tonight.
Great run through lovely countryside Sandie - what more could you ask! Some good work for your legs too with those hills - well done! ๐
Hills, beautiful countryside and a French bakery - what more is there to say Sandie! It all sounds gorgeous to me!
Well done on the hills Sandie!๐
How lovely and what a beautiful place to run
Loved reading your report Sandie...woo hoo on that time too!๐ซ๐ทโญ
Sounds like you are having a great time.

We really are. Great weather still too โ๏ธ Back to the UK on 16 September, probably to 2 weeks locked up, but have rented a cruiser on the Thames for the first weekend in October to celebrate our sonโs 25th birthday with him and his girlfriend. Something lovely to look forward to ๐
What a lovely idea! We have thought about hiring a canal boat, but it's so pricey..a weekend would be ideal though. xxx
Sounds a lovely route Sandie...that's some elevation gain, your legs have worked hard today ๐
