It’s my usual day off today so I planned I’d do a longer run on a new route to the lighthouse and back! Around 10k ish and I planned to take it easy!
I listened to Running Commentary podcast which I love, it really distracts me and then I thought I’d play my music on way back!
Very overcast and quite cool but I wore my vest top anyway which was a good decision! I also wore my new varifocal sunglasses just in case the sun appeared!!
New route involved running on cycle path along side A1 with no hedge like other direction which I’m used to but it wasn’t for long and I felt quite excited when I spotted the sea but realised it was still a long way to the lighthouse!
I plodded on and was treated to a flock of noisy geese flying overhead, then I saw a young deer and a few rabbits. No hares today! They are my new favourite!!
I decided to run along path next to the dunes which is more scenic and that is where I came a cropper!! I think I tripped over a rock and seemed to land right on my nose!! It was horrible and my glasses flew off and I was so worried I’d broken them! I got up quickly( no one around luckily!!) Glasses were bent but I straightened them out without breaking them! Anyway I carried on running as I realised I’d no other injuries!
As runs go apart from the fall it was actually quite good! Last 2 songs on my playlist were “Never Stop” Echo and the Bunnymen and “Road to Nowhere” Talking Heads which made me laugh a bit!! Just got to be more careful next time! 😀🏃♀️

Hi Sara, you ran 13k...which is terrific, more so with your tumble. I guess the adrenelin kicked in and you kept going...and going 😎...I've almost tripped ( on a warm down walk😆) but actually hitting the ground head on must have been horrible...😚😚
Your poor nose. It’s all red and swollen. Poor you. But what a cracking post, what wonders you saw. I thought road to nowhere was on the stop making sense album, but I just checked and it seems it isn’t. But well done for your massive long run X
Aww, bless you lovely, you sure came a cropper. Hope you're okay and your new shades too. You described your scenery so lovely, I felt as if I was there too xx
I missed this.. sorry.. and ouch! Oh gosh... that looks sore!
Lovely place to run.... and how lucky you were not too badly injured.. I worry about my glasses breaking.. and have got a new.. cheaper pair, just for running and just in case !
Thank you! I know I was very lucky! Just a few bruises and grazes which are healing nicely!
My glasses are quite new and expensive!! Twice the price of my trainers! (Prescription varifocals) l have an older pair which I’ll wear for running in now I think!!😀
