Morning runners! Yet another unpaid week off work has given me the chance to have a Tuesday morning run, decided to try to see the positives and make the best of a bad situation.
Woke up at 5am and the gremlins they said no, turned over and went back to sleep until 6am and the gremlins they said no again...but coach Dyer wasn't having that! Honestly if your having trouble motivating yourself just imaging Coach D standing at the end of your bed yelling cockney insults π€£ works wonders for me! Once I was out of bed getting ready for the run was easy, earbuds were charged and before I knew it I was in my warm up walk. Hadn't decided on a route or a distance but weather was mild and I felt good so chose a 10k run with coach Bennet on the NRC app, i wasn't a fan of coach B at first but I find he really passes the time and I balance him out with a gruff Danny Dyer impression in my head anytime I need a bit of motivating π€£ coach B is the carrot π₯ coach D is the stick π€£.
The miles went smoothly and pretty quickly, though my pace after the first mile was slower than usual, I enjoyed the run for the majority. The 5k stage was the hardest, it felt like I'd ran for ages and the realisation that I had to do that again gave me pause for thought, thankfully not pause in the legs though!
I reversed last week's 10k course so last week's nice downhills became this week's challenging climbs but handled them ok with just a bit of niggle in left knee after the last hill of the run at about 8k. Not enough to stop me running π.
Made it back to the start line and it wasn't quite time so cut off into the allotments where I started my c25k journey and continued to run around there until I'd done 10k and then decided to just run home too. Finished on around 10.22k in not much over an hour so quite pleased with the results.
I hope everyone has a great day and great run if your getting out there ππ»

Another 10k I donβt know where you get your stamina from ! Amazing time too. I need to get some new routes planned I think- ones with no hills though!
OK, now you're just showing off ππ Smashing out a 10.28km run before the crack of dawn and plenty of uphill, too!!!! Seriously, well done..you are flying. Coach Dyer is obviously having the desired effect and getting you out there on these dark mornings. Are you running with a head torch yet? How do you see where you're going.. I am looking at head torches (I don't even recognise myself anymore?!) and am not sure what to go for, or even if I'll be able to run with a blimin torch hanging off my head?! But I need something for the dark mornings when I want to clock off a run before work. Any tips ?! I also need to start plotting some longer runs though in SE London, every which way is a hill of some sort so am building up pace and strength more before attacking the wider routes π lol at you running around the allotments! That's me running circles around the small park at the end of our road when I've goofed my route and have 1km or so to run.
Hope the legs are ok after all these 10k's.. and your knee niggle. Impressive running and great inspo to us team gazelle gang π
I actually don't have any kind of light, just my reflective running jacket. On theses 10 k routes that's fine as it's all well lit roads and plenty of passing cars, on my park routes however it is absolute darkness and frankly dangerous! Not sure I could pull off a head torch but I have seen some body ones that look a bit more practical, there on like a best thing that has lots of pockets for phones etc may be worth looking at?
Brilliant, thank you π I have seen one or two people with a "body light". wasn't sure about them but it looks best solution for dark mornings and not a lamp waggling around on my head ππ Might have to order as 'advance Christmas present to self' !!
That looks cool. I want one too. π π actually I saw someone wearing this last week on my Ill fated dark run and it worked well (for the runner wearing it!!)π¦Great run again there Jericho π¦ brilliant distance πͺ
