A wee(k) 4k run

Week 7 run 2 done – I did the 5k on Tues, the 4k today, and all being well I will do the 9k (again) on Sunday. Cannot believe i have just 4 runs left of the programme. I don't anticipate jumping straight to 10k on Sunday. Not that I don't think I can, I am just enjoying the gradual build up too much! (And have always been the kind of gal to follow things to the letter!)

Today's run was lovely, but iffy, at the same time and could have ended in disaster. I don't want to go into graphic detail, but let's just say I have some kind of stomach bug (came on last night), and to say it was a close call on the run is an understatement! Gulp. I perhaps should not have gone out as I was feeling quite unwell, but to be honest, the run perked me up, and I did go very slowly and really enjoyed it as a result. Also enjoying marginally cooler temperatures. :-)

Hope you are all doing well.

Love,

Sadie-runs xxx

Ooooh.. Firstly well done for getting out and doing a run! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼But now rest up (close to bathroom! 🚽 ) and get it all out of your system before your next run. Xx

Thanks! And yes, I really hope I am better by Sunday, there is no way I could run for over an hour with "this" going on! As it was I was eyeing up likely looking bushes. :-( xx

😬😬 It’s a long time not to visit the loo even if you don’t have a tummy bug!! 😂😂 xx

Ooh, well done, both on the run and on the self containment 😑😐 you’re doing so well with the program. I think you should reward yourself with a nice piece of lycra! Xxx

Thanks dear Flick. I am already considering more On running shoes when I get to 10k…is that bad? I want some Cloudflows. Badly. My week 8 gift to myself is a pair of Runderwear pants. Hot pink ones. I have no self-control when it comes to shopping now it seems, I am supposed to be saving money aaaaaaaaaagh. xxx

in reply toSadie-runs

I’m eagerly awaiting the return of my Cloudventure Peaks. I sent the last pair back, didn’t even try them out, because. I was kidding myself they were big enough. They are sending me a half size up. I’m crazy in love with them and can’t wait to get them back and run in them! And I too am interested in the Cloudflows. Did you see the video of when they handed them out to runners in the New York marathon to try during the race? Xxx youtu.be/EsI-epeYKFw

Sadie-runs profile image
Sadie-runsGraduate10 in reply to

Wow! Thanks for sharing this. I wish i had been there to receive a pair. :-) And then not have to run the marathon (although if I was ever to run a marathon, I would want it to be NYC.)

Hope your new loves arrive soon…xxx

in reply toSadie-runs

I mean to ask you, did you try the Cloudflows on? Did they fit the same as the Cloudflyers? Xxx

Sadie-runs profile image
Sadie-runsGraduate10 in reply to

yes, I tried them on and they felt lovely – same size as the Cloudflyers I ended up buying. But, I was recommended to start with the Cloudflyers as they offer a little more stability. The guy said I could move on to the Cloudflow once I had got used to the Cloudflyers. xxx

in reply toSadie-runs

Thanks Sadie. I have the Clouds which are similarly unsupported so I think I would be fine. I’m so tempted. I ought to be sensible since, if we manage the move, it will be by the skin of our teeth and there will be nothing left for renovation of property. I like my clouds but I find I scuff a little and I think it’s because I had to go a half size too large to get the width as they are narrow.xxx

Well done lovely Sadie, another run under your belt. You're right, you can totally nail 10k right now, but I do understand where you are coming from on following the programme, and I have so much respect for you for doing that. You are a sensible girl, unlike me. Well duh, I'm a boy, but you know what I mean!! I am so proud of you Sadie.

Also really sorry you're having stomach troubles, never a good thing on a run, so glad you made it back. I've had no such problems when running, but I did have a disaster on the way back from work once when stuck in a traffic jam, I'll spare you the details, though I've probably already ventured into the realms of TMI!!

Get well soon Sadie!!!

Thanks buddy. Sensible is my middle name, but occasionally I should try and break out of this! Perhaps a part of me doesn't want this programme to ever end as I am enjoying it so much! I am already thinking / planning / plotting what I can do to motivate and challenge myself when this 10k is reached! xxx

in reply toSadie-runs

I'm sure you'd be better off having a feet-up at home you know... tummy bugs are the worst :( Hang in there!!

Sadie-runs profile image
Sadie-runsGraduate10 in reply to

I am sure I would too, but too much work today, and so many people not in, someone has to make sure the ship doesn't ship and books get out to the printer! Gah. Thank you, am hanging. :-) xxx

in reply toSadie-runs

I admire your spirit and determination too, but if you’ve got a stomach bug I’m sure that’s an entirely good reason to take a day off. I’m just not quite ready to lose my fave running buddy!! Take care, ok? The trail will be there waiting. Oh, and so will the bushes :P

Cheers Dexy. Drinking lots of water in the hopes of flushing it all out! x

You're braver than I am Sadie. I had the bug on Wednesday and was supposed to be doing 10k with the club. I ummed and ahhed for ages about whether to go or not but glad I didn't in the end!

Hope you're feeling better soon x

Sadie-runs profile image
Sadie-runsGraduate10 in reply topianoteacher

Well, it was a white knuckle ride, let me tell you! I definitely would not have attempted 10k feeling like this, but 4k was just about manageable at a snail's pace. Are you feeling better now? And thank you. x

That's what I thought and I don't know them very well either - would have been mortifying to have been ill!

Was fine by the afternoon luckily. Hope yours passes quickly too x

Ooo, a risky run?! Well done on going when you didn’t feel 100% and I’m glad that the run ended in your favour & there were no wee (little) accidents!!! 😉 see what I did there?? I’m so proud of your progress on the 10k programme, it’s flown...and so have you!! Those new babies on the end of your legs are going to have a lovely, enjoyable running life with you!! 😉

Sadie-runs profile image
Sadie-runsGraduate10

Twas very risky, MC! And how relieved I was to get home! Thank you my dear – and ditto. I cannot believe how quickly it has gone, and it hasn't been half as bad as I anticipated, easier than C25K I would say! Hope all is well with you, missy Cav. xx

in reply toSadie-runs

That’s so true isn’t it? I’ve said this before, so much easier to get from 5 to 10 than 0 to 5, well more like 4... I’ve loved it. I think we may all just have gone a little bit mad lol

Still poorly. Think I will have to postpone Sunday’s run. I can handle being poorly but missing a long run makes me sad! 😢

Get well soooooooon!! 😷 poor you I hate anything like that. Some people do get caught short and have had to go whilst out on a run 😱 my worst nightmare!! So glad you managed to hang on in there. Rest up ready for the big run.... Hopefully you’ll be empty by then xx

Sadie-runs profile image
Sadie-runsGraduate10 in reply toFishypieface

Thanks dear FPF. It’s horrible, but I refuse to let it get me down! (But SO glad I made it home with my dignity in one piece - it really was a close call). Fingers crossed I am recovered for Sunday. Will be chugging live yoghurt tonight like it is going out of fashion. xx

Well done Sadie, both on the run and managing it with a tummy bug. Hope you feel better by Sunday. Good luck, not that you need it, you'll nail it :) :)

Aw, thank you Lj. 😘

Hope you feel better soon Sadie. Had a similar dodgy run last time out. Not a bug, just an ill-timed desire to go! At one point I was actually thinking, I'm glad I've got shorts on today 😲

Thankfully I got back safely, without a Paula Radcliffe take 2, the x-rated version! It's not even funny eh 😓

Sadie-runs profile image
Sadie-runsGraduate10 in reply to

Thank you Sutsha. Doesn’t help that running jiggles things about! 😱 First time almost caught short....terrifying! Glad you made it back. 😓 Phew. x
