Hooray, the music's back.

My phone died a couple of weeks ago which was annoying to say the least. So I dug deep into my pocket and ordered another one but had to wait a few days and then another few days for the right cable to link to my music library.

So the last few runs have been using my hubby's phone without music or listening to the radio which kept cutting out anyway. But this morning the new phone was all set up to play my personal running list and off I went.

It was cold and misty when I set off and the muddy puddles had splinters of ice in them. I was thinking of doing my 6k route but I could hear shooting quite close to the footpath turning and, although I wear a fluorescent strip, I'm not convinced I won't get shot by someone with bad eyesight or an itchy trigger finger. So I kept going through the long wet grass and the soft squelchy mud.

A rabbit popped out of a hedge just in front of me and was so surprised to see me it didn't know what to do so I just ran past it while it watched me (it was too shocked to laugh at my running pace). Then down onto the road for the final 3.5k. I felt something flapping round my ankle but didn't want to stop as I was on a roll. I thought it was probably the bottom of my muddy trousers. When I got home it was my shoelace that had untied itself - first time ever. I'm glad it didn't trip me up.

Only saw one pedestrian on the whole route. So I thought I'd sing my Christmas carol. Which I did - 'We three kings' loudly - although I had to take the headphones out during my singing as it wasn't on my playlist. As I passed back through the village I didn't see any Christmas decorations so I'll leave that for another day.

But a lovely 8.5k in the end. Music definitely makes all the difference.

Sounds a good run and good that you've got your music back, love the thought of the rabbit laughing 😂 So annoying though to have to get a new phone at this time of year when we tend to have to spend more anyway. How I wish we had some cold and icy puddles, just rain drizzle and mors rain here this weekend.

Could definitely done without the cost of a new phone, but looking back over the year I haven't spent as much as normal as I haven't been able to go anywhere or have visitors. The little rabbit looked so startled to see a human it forgot to run away!

I don't think I could run without music or an audiobook or podcast, I find I need something to distract me, otherwise I'm likely to give up too soon!! So extra kudos to you for carrying on regardless, brilliant.

And, another Bingo box ticked off the card with a great choice of Christmas song to do it, not sure I know all the words to that one myself though 😂🎅🤶🦌🌲⛄

Thanks forestrunbeginner. Its funny, when I'm gardening I like to listen to whats around me but running definitely needs music.

I'm another one who needs music to run. I've been forced to run without music a couple of times when my headphones misbehaved and I really missed it, especially the energy burst you get with particular songs 🎶 well done on singing your carol out loud! The most I've managed was a bit of humming but my route is always too packed to sing, maybe a bit closer to Christmas I'll be brave enough 😂A great run for you today and a brand new phone, an early Christmas present yay👏👏👏

I didn't have to worry about anyone hearing me on my route. Surprised I wasn't too breathless though.
