Ok, so I haven't run a 10k in a few weeks and have been building back up with thoughts of one at the weekend. This morning, prior to going out on just a '5 or 6k' run, I decided to download the Hamilton musical soundtrack on to my phone. This was not entirely a random act - my seventeen year old son saw it up in London with a friend last night and has been raving about it for ages. Thought I should find out what all the fuss is about! Wow! I will not ramble because this is a running forum and not a musical theatre forum - but it is fantastic! Song after fantastic song as I tripped along my trails! When I got to the turning point for my 6k route I just had to carry on running and so 6K turned to 10K and still the wonderful tunes and story of one of America's founding fathers played on (think I finished somewhere just after Act 1๐ฎ - it was a slow 10k๐). Funny what a difference music can make although I know many prefer to run 'naked'. Music clearly works for me, although I am happy to run without at big races because there's always so much going on!
The run itself felt good and my breathing was comfortable all the way around. I do have a bit of an IT band niggle at the moment which I am feeling just on the outside of my knee ( I have had this before) so that was a good excuse to keep things slower!! Lovely out on the local bridleways and paths with a good few puddles and things starting to feel a lilttle bit muddy under foot - just how I like it!๐
