Ok, so I haven't run a 10k in a few weeks and have been building back up with thoughts of one at the weekend. This morning, prior to going out on just a '5 or 6k' run, I decided to download the Hamilton musical soundtrack on to my phone. This was not entirely a random act - my seventeen year old son saw it up in London with a friend last night and has been raving about it for ages. Thought I should find out what all the fuss is about! Wow! I will not ramble because this is a running forum and not a musical theatre forum - but it is fantastic! Song after fantastic song as I tripped along my trails! When I got to the turning point for my 6k route I just had to carry on running and so 6K turned to 10K and still the wonderful tunes and story of one of America's founding fathers played on (think I finished somewhere just after Act 1๐Ÿ˜ฎ - it was a slow 10k๐Ÿ˜‰). Funny what a difference music can make although I know many prefer to run 'naked'. Music clearly works for me, although I am happy to run without at big races because there's always so much going on!

The run itself felt good and my breathing was comfortable all the way around. I do have a bit of an IT band niggle at the moment which I am feeling just on the outside of my knee ( I have had this before) so that was a good excuse to keep things slower!! Lovely out on the local bridleways and paths with a good few puddles and things starting to feel a lilttle bit muddy under foot - just how I like it!๐Ÿ™‚

Sounds fab. We have tickets to see Hamilton in Sept due to my 17 year old (now 18) sons fascination with the music. Will look forward to running to it after we have seen it.

..I really wish I could have seen it too! I am sure your son is going to love it! Don't forget to go to the stage door after for selfies with the cast! Enjoy!๐Ÿ™‚

Well done for another 10k. I love those runs when you feel good so keep going. And I must look up that music, though not for running as Iโ€™m a naked runner heehee x

10km still seems impossible to me. I think your achievement is amazing. I had one of my best runs listening to a podcast, so think I will do that again. Maybe it's because it stops us from thinking about every step? Mind over muscles!

It does take your mind off those 'niggles'!๐Ÿ™‚

Nice one Sandraj39 It is great when it all comes together unexpectedly ..

Sounds like, dare I say, a 'perfect run '

Those are the ones that you can store in the memory for err not so good runs ๐Ÿ˜

2 years ago when my daughter was learning to drive and I was sitting beside her for practice between driving lessons, she insisted on playing the Hamilton music and singing along to it! Scary! She claimed it helped her to concentrate! This year, both daughters were lucky enough to get tickets and saw it together in the spring ๐Ÿ˜€

Hope they enjoyed it as much as my son did! ๐Ÿ™‚

Sounds like a fun run. I can live without mud though- saw enough of that through the dark days of last winter ๐Ÿ™„.

When you have a few hours free I will explain how my youngest daughter inadvertently bought 3 Hamilton non-existent "tickets" from Viagogo for the first run for the princely sum of ยฃ4000. Yes, you read that right.

Cue much anguish, BBC involvement, show producer and writer involvement and we got the money back. The upside was that we also managed to get three sets of four complimentary tickets (including First Night) so we've all seen it three times. And what a brilliant show it is too!!

And we're going again :-)

Oh nooo! But sounds like it all worked out rather well in the end! I think I would love to go - and am pretty sure my son would see it again too!

It's a great show!! And a great score. Not surprised you like running to it. Pretty speedy too. Until you have to cry during the second half :-)

Well done! I donโ€™t really like running without my music! In fact Iโ€™m more into podcasts at the moment! I must tell my son about you running to Hamilton sound track! Heโ€™s obsessed with musicals and actually has a Hamilton programme! Heโ€™s going to see Wicked for the 3rd time next weekend!! ๐Ÿ˜€

sallensonGraduate10โ€ข in reply toSarakc

Don't repeat this, but I enjoyed Wicked more than Hamilton.... :-)

Several times.

Me and the girls arrange ourselves around the piano and I play and they sing. "Defying Gravity" is incredibly hard!!!

My youngest sang "I'm Not That Girl" years ago at a school concert. To say I cried noisily throughout would be an understatement. People asked me if I was alright :-)
