Hi Reggit ...I bet you could do the programme alongside her...she knows you and will have so much trust in you...it would be a really lovely thing for you to do together...no experience myself though
I imagine, though, that the best idea would be to discuss it with your wife! While I really don't mean to sound flippant or patronising, she's best positioned to know how her sight loss affects her everyday life, and how she likes to be guided (or not), so maybe check out the options and talk them through with her.
Thanks, I’ve had a quick look at work and found similar sites.
I’ve already had a chat with her and she wants a trained guide, so have been wondering about doing it as there’s no one near us. That would then set us up for another hurdle of who’s looking after the kids....
I’ve run alongside a blind chap and his helper runner. The route was littered by speed humps, and she just called out to him to warn him. They were awesome! They linked themselves together with a twin-handled rubber dog pull 😃. It was my first marathon but he told me it was his 300th plus 🙂
It must take lots of practice to run in co-ordinated fashion as they did They were fast too 😃
I would think RNIB would be a good starting point Good luck 👍🙂
