I'm aiming for my first 10k tomorrow and running the Vitality Virtual 10,000. I was thinking of using one of the Nike Run Club guided 10k runs to help me along the way - but which one?
There are 3 to choose from that I can see - 10k Run, Another 10kRun, 10K Head Starts. I don't think I want to be "coached" in how to run a 10k, at this stage, I just want some help to be able to complete it!
I think I might need it having just checked the weather forecast! I think I have picked the worst day of the half term week π± Anyway - needs must!
I've done Run Long With Joanie (80 minute run), and 5K Head Starts, which I quite liked so I'm leaning towards 10k Head Starts, but does anyone who's used these before have any comments/recommendations, or indeed any other suggestions?
Thanks!

I await your replies as I wondering about doing the same.. and looks like gales are forecast here on the coast so Iβm looking forward to a wild run, all the best for tomorrow π€π π»
I've done the 10k headstart and I found it very useful, just don't trust the distance calls - by the end of the run it was almost a whole k short compared to my Garmin! But other than that, it's great, similar to the other headstart runs - lots of encouragement and questions to take your mind off the effort. A thumbs up from me ππ
It was a belting rainy run here by the Humber today and it was epic! If it comes your way tomorrow then embrace it! I wouldn't have a guided run tomorrow as the old saying 'nothing new on race day' comes to mind. However I have used so many guided runs from NRC and they are more confidence boosting and thought provoking than purely 'coached.'
Enjoy it be positive and you'll be just great π
You will and I can't wait to read all about it too. If you do just check at the end that the 10k has been achieved on any other tracking methods too as they can differ slightly. Go for it, they are good π
I used the 10k one for my first 10k. It was good but at around 8.5k he told me to slow down then speed back up at 9k for no real reason. Bit annoying as I think it added time. I'd suggest do it but ignore him on that bit and carry on at same pace because starting back up is hard.
I djd the 10k head starts for my second 10k and it told me I'd finished at 7k! Obviously a problem with GPS. I'm around 20min drive from you though so I'm sure you'll be fine!
Hi can't comment on any of the guided runs, but they have messed my timings up abit in the past. For my 10k I actually picked some calm music and emersed myself!! As I did not want Fast just Finish!!
I've just got in from work and it's all dark and wet so going to miss run tonight so will do one in the morning so I will be running with you whatever the weather!!
10K head starts was what I ran my first 10K/vitality run last weekend. Itβs good - itβs all about βtake care of yourselfβ messages and none of this over enthusiastic βyou can do it!β Motivational blah π ie I enjoyed it. You get a bit of pep talk every 600 metres or so. It kept me going. But I used my Garmin to measure the distance and with the NRC app i ended up having to run an extra 300 metres to make it to 10K π the good thing about that was I got double achievement of 10K in short space of time ππ»ββοΈ
