So psychological!

Yesterday I was planning the shorter run 15 mins on the Magic plan. I previously did not do well as got too short of breath. This time I thought I would be more careful but still wanted to do better of course. So set off at a faster pace, it was hard and did 2.5 k. Which was slightly more distance than done before. As I recovered quickly and felt ok thought I would do another 15 mins but would not push it, just a relaxed run to get some more exercise. I relaxed alot more, enjoyed it, taking in the beautiful park and when I had finished I was surprised I had done 2.5k again! So a lesson learnt to be more calm and enjoy the run.

Yes your so right. Running is very much in the head. But you need a good base level of fitness first. Once you have that base level of fitness your body can do more than your mind thinks it can. It feels great when you realise that. Well done to you. I just need to build up my base level of fitness again. 😀 I’m a long way off last years PB’s.

Well done Tillybeach. I find that the speed thing does elude me but I do enjoy just running at own pace in my little world. Now just started wk 4 of the magic plan. Still slow but steady!

Keep it up you are doing brilliantly!

Thanks Timotea. Are you doing the magic plan on time or distance? I'm now on week 4 too. Think it's going to take a while! Managing the time but pretty slow!

I am doing distance so 8k this week. Managing distance but super slow! Just need to keep at it! Look forward to hearing how you get on!

I may switch to distance this week but then that is changing to a lot longer runs timewise. Seems abit more rewarding on distance. Let me know how you go.

Absolutely! Relax, go at a steady and comfy pace and it will do you so much good.

Thank you good to have your reassuring advice.

You've got it in you so always keep this in your mind. The runs come and go and there are ups and downs but you will get there. Relax and let it happen 😊

That sounds like a fast run to get that distance in 15mins, well done to then not only run another 2.5 but to relax into the run also. As you say, so much is psychological, clear the mind, relax, enjoy the run and save the race speeds for special runs. Happy running 🤗

Thank you Grannyhugs, so true! After those runs I have learnt to just do my pace.

I think when you do the C25K you put yourself under pressure to do the 5k in a reasonable time but really to think I could not even run 30 secs 3 months ago!!
