Today was meant to be running for 30 mins with the wife as she is on Wk 9 of c25k but she's got vertigo and a headache this morning so I went out for a run on my own. I decided to do my long run and as I did 7.5k last week the plan was to go for 8.5k. Set off and walked for 10 mins to the start of the planned route which was the same basic route as last week. First 5 mins is uphill and always a bit of a struggle but soon settled down into a nice rhythm. Got to about halfway without any dramas and was really enjoying it until as I was running around a bend in the path a tiny little dog came running towards me not on a lead. I hate that cos you never know what they are going to do. I actually ended up jumping over him! The dog owner did apologise but I really wish they would keep dogs under control on narrow trails/paths. Anyway rant over the rest of the run was uneventful other than the final 300m being up quite a steep hill which practically finished me off

Well done Dave, I agree about random dogs. I often take mine, but she really is extremely well behaved and never (touch wood) jumps up at strangers. Even so, if the path is narrow, I always put her on the lead.
Today she was mugged by a lurcher type dog and she wasnโt interested in playing. The other dog kept dive bombing her and me and I was worried it would trip me up. The owner did nothing. ๐
Youโre doing amazingly well. Hills too! ๐๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ
Thanks. Majority of dog owners are really considerate but it only takes one ๐ก. Don't fancy being tripped up or worse bitten. I will probably go for a 10k next week now cos I'm considering taking my son's half marathon place in June cos he's injured and is unable to do it.
Well done hurdles ๐ถ as well as finishing on an uphill ๐๐ป they are so quick those little dogs I had one nearly trip me up this morning too but Iโm such a softy I stopped and gave it a tickle thankful that I hadnโt trodden on it ๐ ๐
Today I had no dogs on my run but I had a van and a motorbike (on pathway) and then a 13T truck, all very polite though even if slightly unexpected!
Well done on your run, make sure your next one is easy to rest your legs
Don't get me started on little dogs, they seem to make a beeline for me. Having been tripped up once, I now stop completely until the owner catches up to the dog.
