Jools2020 and Birdlady64 tried it and reading about their jeffing runs made me so want to try it!
So as I do I explained the concept to Willow (never dare say I went on and on about it) as I do, and he was totally uninterested. I looked up how to set up run walk intervals on my garmin and set up 30 run 30 walk
Mind you it was raining 🌧 but we got ready anyway and off we went in light drizzle. The park looks green and lush with a few dog walkers in raincoats.
warm up walk and off, the buzz for 30 seconds comes quick and I make the walk brisk, run again and walk…. I’m leaving willow behind but that’s fine he does his own thing, then something funny happens, I glance round and realise Willow is walking when I walk and running when I run, after a while Willow is done and goes to wait in the car, I leave the park, head fir the seafront. This feels good and I haven’t a clue about times apart from each kilometre time flashes up.
Ah the sea… is that sand??? I walk down the beach and realise it’s shallow water not sand so walk back up the beach oh dear that was a run part, so walk the next 30 seconds then get back in rhythm 🎶
Today passed a few runners going the other way with a smile and nod, time to turn cross the road and head back. I’m noticing my run parts are getting slower and so try and walk briskly in between, 5k buzzes and i stop the watch.
I do wonder if I’d suggested Willow not wait and i’d have to walk home when i see that this is my second fastest 5k ever and maybe if i hadn’t wandered down to the sea and back it might have been even a little quicker but i’m happy with 4k in 43.08 minutes 😀😀😀
splits: 8.09 7.44 8.31 9.32 and 8.50
Weather warm and dull
I will jeff again,
Happy Sunday all

I know it is totally weird how your time seems to improve when you add in walking... but it really works, doesn't it? Like Jools, I think you definitely would have gotten a PB if not for the watery detour.
I must try this. So 5K in total, split between running (30 secs) and walking (30 secs)? Is the idea that this method will eventually speed up your runs?
Worth looking it up, i think the idea mostly is that you can keep going for longer without getting exhausted, there are lots of different time intervals, i was running faster my heart rate was higher overall and i was getting puffed out so the walk intervals were recovery, I found it a bit odd waiting for the watch to buzz but soon got the hang of it Have fun
Good run, Jeff and walk for you today W&S, glad you enjoyed it, well done for your second best 5K Sola,Yesterday I ran 8K in 56.02, this morning I went a nice easy just over 8K WALK, my time today after that walk for 8K was 1 hour 37 minutes, yes, quite a difference between a run and walk.
Brilliant! It sounds like you enjoyed yourself. 😁That definitely could have been a PB. I thought something similar to myself on Friday when I tried it.Sadly I decided against running today. Am going to give the thigh a rest - don't want to make it worse.
It helps to carry on longer, my last 5k took way longer and I walked a lot of the last kilometre but although tiring at the end i kept going and didn’t stagger back to the car, mind you I keep yawning now
I didn’t have my phone with me otherwise photos would have been taken, it was quiet and still on he beach but today was the run I’ve done a lot of short runs a lot of swims and walks but today was my first 5k for a while
