Hiya everyone, a chilly 3 degree start to my morning, but its parkrun day and after waiting 16 weeks for it to re-start and knowing I’m going to warm up fast I’m not complaining, there were still plenty of hardy souls in their shorts and tee shirts. Only a brief chat from the race director this morning, and we set off, 30 less runners than last week, so I guess it will take time for people to feel comfortable again.
Its so good parkrun is back and fingers crossed yours will be soon too. Looking forward to reading all your not parkrun posts. I’ll be back next week running for the UK until you are. 🇬🇧
Had to wait until this afternoon to get my parkrun official time, because I nudged my watch when taking my jacket off and didn’t have a clue what time I’d run ignorance really is bliss, so its either lock my watch screen or run naked next week. 40 seconds off last week’s time without trying, so very happy. Happy running everyone x

😂😂 I’m sure you’re right about the mat work BBr. I’m not fond of the 8am start, but when I’d finished, the sun was shining and there was whole rest of the day to enjoy. You have a great weekend too xxx
Thats so weird, I was surprised as I thought there would be way more people at parkrun today than last week, 10.30 here, off soon, just having a small vodka and tonic.
When we were in full lockdown the parks were full of people getting their hour exercise a day then we were allowed to meet people outside and everywhere was full of groups of people meeting now we can meet some people inside the parks are emptying again it’s just bizarre but great that there is some return to normality,
What a responsibility Lexi - running parkrun for all of us each week. But it’s great to hear your reports and it gives us hope that those days will soon return.
An excellent time for you too. The cold weather does encourage you to reach the Finish line that much quicker.
Sure Yoga with Adriene has changed my mindset I’ll never be a sub 30 parkrunner but I’m loving my runs anyway and won’t be taking parkrun for granted ever again🤞 for your parkrun return, meanwhile I love running for the UK.
Thanks Run46 i t was a lovely way to begin the day. I’m lucky that our parkrun is only a 5 minute drive away, so I don’t have to get up too early. Feeling very lucky over here at the moment and very proud of our PM, she has listened to all the advice given her, made some tough decisions on our behalf and its paid off I do hope she gets voted in again in September. 😊
A good run for you yesterday Lexi6, surely in New Zealand they could make the start time at 9am, it must still be almost dark especially in the south island at this time of the year.
That is really very nice of you running for the UK 🇬🇧 next Saturday. 😊 🏃🏾
I wish Alan, a little bit longer in bed each Saturday would be lovely, but at least it was light when I got there, no sun though until I was done. One day, I’d love to do a South Island parkrun, Queenstown, looks a stunning one.
Lovely to hear you are back at park run, so annoying when technology gets nudged and doesn't record properly but great news on 40secs faster. Happy running 🤗
Thanks Grannyh I seem to be having more tech issues lately, although it could be just be having more senior moments! I’ll try locking the watch screen next week, although it was quite empowering not knowing what my time or pace was and just running. 😊
😂😂 I know, think I felt colder just looking at them, all hunched up trying to keep warm and felt really overdressed. Think you’re right, will lock the screen instead and keep naked for the summer. 😊
