Good morning everyone. It’s a nice bright and sunny morning here. But that will change this evening. Loads of wind and rain coming. But for now it seems like the parkrun weather fairies are still looking after us.
This morning for the first time in over 3 months I’m going to do my Virtual parkrun at my local park which is where my local parkrun takes place. Also this morning I’m going to record my run and enter the time on the parkrun website as a (not) parkrun. I have a cunning plan. I’m going to go out this morning and run a nice easy gentle 5K. Then next week it will make it easier to come back and get a (not) parkrun PB.
Happy running everyone. I’m looking forward to reading all about your virtual parkrun or (not) parkrun. Please as always write your run reports below.

Good morning Damien, this morning will be my 14th Virtual Parkrun but my first (not) parkrun, I ran a 10K on Thursday to celebrate 2 years since I graduated from C25K, I sent my 5K split time to the not parkrun website but from now on it will be only on a Saturday that I will send my time to the not parkrun website, enjoy your run today.
Congratulations AlMorr on your 2 year anniversary since your C25K graduation. And well done on your 10K. Fantastic running. Yes like you I am only going to log my (not) parkruns on Saturday mornings. I’m going to train during the week so as to attempt to get PB’s on Saturdays for (not) parkrun. So I’ve a clean slate. I’m going to have a nice easy one today.
Just finished mine Damien. 👍 I’m sticking to the common, but rather than meander around like I often do, I’ve decided to make the plateau at the top my personal (not) PR course! It’ll be easier to get a consistent record of my times. 😀🏃♀️
I was quite pleased with my time of 37:58 today. It’s flat up there, and the grass is short, but the ground itself is undulating so you need your wits about you in places. No ankle turning for me thank you very much. 😅
I’m doing an experiment. Having enjoyed my W1R1s with MJ for the last few runs, I’m now running “fast” for 1 minute each time my Garmin buzzes 0.5k. I’m really enjoying it, and I’m going to increase the duration of the intervals by a few seconds each run. I just want to see what happens, plus Flossie finds it amusing when I run fast! 😅😅 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🐾🐕
Thanks TailChaser and Cheekychipmunks, I have just come back from my 14th Virtual Parkrun and my first (not) parkrun, my time this morning was 33.30, I posted my result on the not parkrun Dunfermline Website, it came back as a age grading of 55.62%, almost as good as the real thing, at least for me as I only have a 10 minutes warm up walk to the start instead of a 45 minutes bus run, although I do miss the atmosphere of a real official Parkrun.
Great time Al 👏👏 I know what you mean Al but we're getting closer, it's nice just to be able to log on for a reason again. Didn't spot the age grading when I logged mine so I'll have to pop in again. Yes, our warm up is usually putting the cones & signs out as volunteers and we're usually way past our 10k steps by the time we get home!
Just found those results on my home parkrun page Al! I'm 6th! I've never been that high up in my life! (ok, there's only 12 registered so far but hey, I'll take that 😁). 60.58% so not too bad.
Thanks Damien. That’s what I’m hoping. I’m training my body to run faster to order! I need to get out of my comfortable bimbling speed. 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️
It’s hard work doing intervals. But they really do work. My dream was to be able to comfortably run and achieve PB’s. Interval training is great for your pace and also training your brain that you can do it. Just build it up bit by bit. Enjoy the journey.
For me it’s the brain training I need, and I’m already seeing a difference. I know how many strides I take in a minute (I counted them during the MJ intervals!), so now I count them down which helps psychologically. I’ll get there! 👍😀
Morning Damien, morning all! I’m in shock! Not only have we already run our (not)parkrun, we’ve done the quiz AND we got a shout out by Vassos! And it’s only just gone past 9.45😊 8/10 on the quiz so not our worst but could do better. We did actually know an answer this week 🤣
Run was better this week although the weather can’t make up its mind. Much better time to go out, hardly any obstacles until we reached the last 500 metres, so nice even negative splits. 28:21 approximately and I didn’t feel like I was going to die at the end of it, which is always a bonus 🤣
Sorry Al for the late reply. Had a really busy weekend and was away from my phone. My Dad and I spent all day yesterday building a home made green house. It’s like a gorgeous little 1960’s potting shed. There was no real design or plan at the start. But it looks like a really cool retro green house.
Well done on your run. I really enjoyed mine, I ran along with my friend Ida and we kept each other company. I’ve left loads of room so as to get some PB’s. Loved running around the park. Felt like parkrun was back.
Oh wow. Forgot about stopwatch bingo. Looking forward to doing more running challenges in the future. I really loved running around the park yesterday.
We heard your shout out TailChaser! We decided to do the quiz separately this morning. UTS got 9/15 and I got 8/15. Now if we had been negotiating answers would we have got more or less - we’ll never know.
You were up early today.
I was first female for a day on not parkrun and was then first in age grade score but I guess that is no longer the case as lots will do it on Saturday. Nice while it lasted though.
It’s good thought isn’t it? Starting to feel that much closer to a restart as we can connect with our actual parkrun again. Is that your first post injury 5k?
Got lots more done than usual today and the run was much easier - must get up earlier more often 🤣
No Tuesday was 4 plus 1 and then on Friday I did 3.5 plus 1.5 because my calves felt a bit tight and I thought best to walk it off. I put it down to the NT steep up and down walk on Thursday. Maybe a full 5k this week.
Yes getting up early is great for making the day last longer. - I don’t achieve it very often though because I’m waking with the birds At 4.00 and then sleeping in.
I’m back from my (not) parkrun. It was a beautiful morning. Warm and a nice fresh breeze. The park was busy and it was lovely to see groups training in the football pitches with kettle bells, yoga and groups doing physical exercise. I met up with Petula and Ida and we started our run together. Ida and I ran our 5K together. It was really enjoyable. The hill is still there, and we still had to do the hill 3 times. But I ran at a nice pace alongside Ida and we finished our 5K in a time of 31:54. So now I have a (not) parkrun PB which will be easy to work on each week.
It was so lovely to be back in the park, and we also got to say hello to a few parkrun friends. No post parkrun coffee this morning. I’m going to enjoy one now myself at home.
Hi Damienair, I’m glad you enjoyed your first not parkrun. I think it gives you a bit of encouragement to do well when you know you are going to submit your time.
I fully intended to volunteer as marshal today but @upthestanley has not got out and it’s a bit on the hot side now.
I ran on Friday this week and felt the need to walk at 3.5 k because my calves felt a bit tight. But I still ran 5k altogether. It was slower than Tuesday due to the wind but I submitted it as a second (not)parkrun anyway.
Sorry for my delay in replying. I was away from my phone a lot this weekend. Yesterday I spent the day building a home made green house with my Dad.
Looking forward to seeing your time again next weekend. Don’t worry though about achieving a full 5K too soon. 2.5K, rest, 2.5K is still 5K. Yes I’m delighted with (not) parkrun. It will be good encouragement to try and improve the finishing times each week. I kind of cheated yesterday. I plan to have a few weeks of PB’s. 😀
Hi everyone. My 14th Goyt Valley run but the first official (not) parkrun.
Over the last few Saturdays I have been extending the run a bit but today I stuck to the original 5k from the bottom of the 1 in 4 hill, which was extra tricky with loose gravel washed down by the recent heavy rain.
A time of 37.13, not the best time on this course but the best time this week so it is the one that will go on the results page. In future I will only log the Saturday run (unless I get an amazing 5k during the week )
Glad that you enjoyed your first (not) parkrun this morning Sue, that is correct, just post the Saturday morning 5K run, not any other unless it's anothrt PB 5K and not a 5K split of a longer run as I did on Thursday with the 10K I ran, this morning I posted my 5K time of 33.30 to the Dunfermline Parkrun site but I deleted the split 5K time I posted on Thursday, I am happy that you like me enjoyed your first not parkrun today. 😊 🏃🏾
I managed a very slightly quicker 5k this morning to the one I did on Tuesday with Dexy5, UTS and Mr and Mrs Coddfish. Only 15 seconds but, hey, at 49:57, it could have been so much worse!. I did 6.5 all told but as my route took me past the paper shop and they hadn’t been put out yet, I went off for another 10 minutes for a total of 7.5k. Building back up to another 10k soon. And I then got 7/15 on the Parkrun quiz, which I reckon wasn’t bad for a solo effort! Happy running folks!
Well here we are again, rebranded! This morning's (non) parkrun felt better than last week's but was 7 seconds slower (29.23) - how does that work? But as you say Damien, plenty of room for improvement!
Entered my time online - only 14 on Portsmouth Lakeside so far, but I guess it's early days with this system as yet. Since parkrun paused, I've gone up an age bracket so today was 57.06% - back above 60% is now my target!😀
Did my ( not) Park run yesterday...it was humid and it rained...I did a none field route as two days torrential rain had made a lot of mud..first 3K..uphill and final 2K down. Part of the route was blocked ..so had to retrace ..but it is done and I will use this same route each week to try to up my pace. Yesterday, not speedy..5 01K...32.52....so we will see
Hey Damien! I only heard about (not) Parkrun yesterday so I’ve logged my Friday run on the website. I’m going out again in the morning and will aim to best Fridays run.
Just the kind of motivation one needs, I had hit a wall.
I hear ya! I need major motivation too. parkrun worked at keeping me training. I’ve lost a good bit of fitness. But happy to be still running. Next weekend I’ll aim for a faster time too. Although I have left myself with a nice margin. My aim is to log faster times each week. It’s a nice challenge and some good motivation.
Sorry peeps, I’m a bit late this week. Yesterday I was on morning dog walking duty and then met a friend for a walk and by the time I got back it was too warm. This morning it is much cooler and fresher, so a gentle 31:38 and I am 29th at Lincoln (non) parkrun. First time in the top 300 😂 Happy fathers’ day!
Sorry for late reply, I got distracted after I ran yesterday, as my support bubble buddy was coming over to visit.
I have to say though that I had a cracking run! Despite not feeling motivated to go out the door, I managed my quickest run since lockdown started. It was my second (not)Parkrun, I did my first on Weds to celebrate receiving my new Parkrun vest. So I was looking for a new PB. Only managed to knock nearly 2 mins off my time! 5k in 30:36😊
