Hello everyone. Good morning. It’s that time of the week again. Time to do a Virtual parkrun, a 5K which is not a parkrun, not even on a parkrun course. But on a Saturday morning we can pretend that it is a parkrun, record our own time.
Next weekend we will be able to record the time for our Virtual parkrun on the parkrun website, as (not) parkrun.
Enjoy your virtual parkrun everyone and please as always leave your run reports below. This morning I will be running a 5K in my locality and afterwards meeting up with my 2 parkrun friends Ida and Petula for a post virtual parkrun coffee in Ida’s back garden. The photo is of us last weekend.
Happy running,
Damien

Now they’ve set this in stone, I’m guessing that means they’re not expecting parkrun to return for a very long time yet 😩😭 (which we probably all guessed but...).
I think the earliest we will see it in the UK and Ireland is October. New Zealand I think are starting back at parkrun on the 4th of July. Some countries managed the COVID-19 situation much better than others and as a result I think parkrun will be phased back into those countries sooner.
Hi RunaroundSue, I have just come back from my 13th Virtual Parkrun, I ran it in a time of 32.14, a little quicker than recent weeks, I have gone to that link for the official non parkrun information, all I see is all my official 17 parkrun results, not sure if there is a place to put this mornings not parkrun time.
Well done again AlMorr. The (not) parkrun is going live on the parkrun website next week. My understanding is that you can enter the times for any of your 5K runs during the week. It will then select your best run of the week. You also get age graded score.
I intend to run my 9th 10K this coming Thursday, that is the 18th June, it was the 18th June 2018 that I graduated from C25K, so Thursdays run will be my second runiversary 🏃🏾 run.
Here we go then. Left it too late as I had a funny tummy and headache due to too late fish and chips (why can’t it be too many beers like everyone else?!). So quite busy out and too hot. Strava says 82% humidity which is more than enough and it feels like it now too.
It started off ok but we had to weave in and out of people and cars more than usual. People having a natter at the top of The Hill made that tricky but we weaved round them and made our way back down. Then it started to get tougher as it’s exposed, so hotter and we were getting tired.
Thankfully I had a Sparks song in my head and the rhythm, a little mantra and some distractions got me through the last 1k but I had to kneel on the ground to get my breath back and I’ve not had to do that in a long time: 28:07 I’m very pleased with but it was a killer with a ridiculously high average heart rate.
Great running. Your doing great. I’m unfortunately slowing down. I did 30:49 this morning. Really struggled. I’m a long way off my 25:36 PB time. I need to work at getting back to a 28 minute 5K time.
Morning everyone. I’ve done my 5k. The first 0.9 was all up hill with a steep incline at the top. I had to stop for a breather. The rest was more flat. For some reason I’m better at running downhill or on the flat 🤣🤪. All done . 29 minutes 13
Just back. It’s rather warm and very muggy after all the rain this week. Also slightly hungover after imbibing a little too much wine last night, but a respectable 31.50.
I’ve had an email this morning saying that running clubs are restarting in July, although with limited numbers and social distancing in place, but, even so, it’s a positive sign 😃
Thankfully I stayed away from Whiskey and Wine last night. But I still struggled to run well this morning. Well done you for getting out there and finishing the run.
80 hours, 44 minutes, just read about a guy in California who ran non stop for that time, wow, no sleeping, probably had something on to deal with what we call natural breaks.
Good morning. Warm and muggy here today so decided to start at the top of the big hill this morning. Ran a bit short of oomph about halfway round, but spurred on by a cheery “Happy Parkrun Day” from another runner (the passing pedestrian stared at us like we were mad!).
Today’s time 32:25. Now for a quick shower then hopefully catch some of the digital running show.
I’m been back from mine for a good while - and wow it wasn’t half humid today. 🥵 Still, I completed my week-long 2nd runniversary celebration with another W1R1 interval session added in to the 5k. I dare say I’m finding the faster running segments easier than I used to, I now need to jog the “walking” bits a bit quicker too. All good fun, and I’ve enjoyed MJ’s company. 😀🏃♀️👍
Hi Damien and all our running buddies!🙂 I ran a virtual Parkrun this morning around the seafront in sunny Bognor🌞🏖
I ran quite early but there was a bit of breeze even at that time. Somehow I got round in 27:01, which is my second fastest 5K ever. I’m very pleased with that🙂👍 Today’s also my 88th day in a row of running. Most runs have been 2km but I’ve varied them up to HM distance!😊
Great time and run for you David G, just for a fraction of a second I thought that you were 88, no it was your 88th day of running, that in itself is an amazing achievement, I suppose that you are hoping to run for a hundred days.
Thanks AlMoor, not quite 88, but just another 30 years or so to go!😳🤣
My target is to complete another virtual HM before day 100 if all goes to plan🏃♂️👍 I’ve taken a few days off work around then so I have time to recover!🙂
Well done. My route was my usual 5K too. Noticed it a lot quieter this morning. I think all the families whom were exercising during lockdown are going back to their old ways now that the restrictions are being relaxed. It’s kind of funny. When they were told to stay at home they all wanted to be out, now that they are free to be out they are staying at home. 😂
I’m really excited to enter my first proper virtual parkrun Post today. It’s a special day because it’s UpTheStanley ’s birthday too. We sat in bed and he opened the only presents that had arrived in time, and Thought as we were awake we’d go for an early run, get showered and changed and then have Take away breakfast at the new cafe in canoe lake park.
So set off at 8:15 into a South easterly and I have to confess I found those first few kms were tough. But I could hear all my VRBs cheering me on and ran 3.5km before my much needed 500m walk. Another 1,5km followed so making 5km of running and 5.51 overall. Unusually, I managed negative splits:
1. 7:48
2. 7:37
3. 7:35
4. 9:19
5. 7:25
5:5. 6:56
I’m really chuffed with that, and looking forward to running (not)parkrun on Tuesday with Oldgirlruns , and Mr & Mrs Coddfish . We are running from different directions to meet at the Southsea Beach Cafe for post (not)parkrun coffee.
It’s great that you have led the way with your virtual parkrun post each week Damienair . parkrun obviously heard about it and decided it was a good idea.
Congratulations to you Dexy5 on running your first virtual 5K parkrun and a very happy birthday to UTS, have a great day together and eat plenty of 🎂 cake.
Yahoo! Welcome back Dexy5 and great running. Happy birthday to UTS. Enjoy your run during the week. Even though parkruns are still a long way off yet, it will be nice to log the times. I’m delighted that you are back and getting fitter again.
Thanks Damien. On our way back from breakfast We bumped into 2 from our parkrun who have started C25k again to get fit for parkrun . Lovely to see fellow runners from parkrun.
It’s great to have run the full distance cheeky, although I did find the run into the wind quite
Tough. You know what it can be like on parkrun day! My knee feels better than before the run so that’s a good sign. It’ll be a while before I get back to where I was pre-skiing but by the time real parkrun starts I should be running 10ks again. 🤞. Did you get a 2 years of parkrun email? Or didn’t you start straight away.?
Great to have you back on track Dexy! It must seem a long time since March (probably because it is!😋). Have a great time on Tuesday - and Happy Birthday to UpTheStanley 🎂
I'll be there next year! Happy birthday UTS; I am just building up for the Championship relegation battle....feels like Russian roulette with so few matches to go. Stanley are safe though! Have a good birthday weekend. 👍
Thank you for the information. I have signed up for Parkrun today so I can use this as a way of recording my progress.
I completed my second ever 5k this morning and was pleased with 38.12 mins. I graduated from c25k four weeks ago and my first attempt last week was 40.26mins.
I haven’t tried my local park run course yet but will give it a go sometime soon for a change of scenery.
Fantastic. You will be able to log your 5K runs and when parkrun returns you will have all of your (not) parkrun runs logged and saved. Then you can start working on the real thing. You’ll love it.
Hi Damien, quite hard going this morning and I ran out of steam thus achieving positive splits! 😞 However I was 3 seconds faster than last week so not all bad!😀
Sneaked in a 5k last night after a busy day. Long sleeved RAB to keep off the midges and a nice 32:12. There was a mist over the forest, so breathing was fun! Way off PB pace (28:17) but this is supposed to be a rehab period, so not going to push it. Going in the right direction. Nice pic; I miss the post Park Run chats.
I forgot to write my own run report. Nothing much to report. I struggled, just felt really tired. But I ran which is the most important thing. I logged a time of 30:49, but I think next week I am going to log my time on the parkrun website as a (not) parkrun run and then each week I will work on knocking down my (not) parkrun PB times. So a slower start will make the PB’s easier to achieve. Realistically we could be dealing with virtual parkrun or (not) parkrun for another 3-4 months at least. So it will be a nice incentive to work on improving my times again.
