12k in the rain - longest distance so far

I had a 10k planned for yesterday morning and despite the fact it was pouring with rain I decided still to go even though I knew it was going to be muddy and wet up the old railway line. By the time I arrived, parked the car and got myself run ready the rain had eased to just a slight drizzle. The muddy path didn't look very inviting but I set off . . . After 1k my thoughts were that maybe I'll just do 6k this morning, it all seemed like very hard work. As this is an "out and back" type route I had to decide what to do when I got to 3k, I decided to push on. I got to 5k and decided to go to 6k before turning around. The return run was a bit of a slog and took quite a bit of willpower but I made it and completed my first 12k, so I was tired but happy 😊 . . . Happy running everybody πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ˜

Thanks, it was good but I have to admit a bit tough.

I think a run feeling a bit tough is a good thing because if it was easy the sense of achievement wouldn't be the same πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘

Thanks, I'm now wondering what to try for next, maybe 15k? πŸ€”

Great 12k for you in a cracking time. Out and back runs really take a lot of will power to not turn back early - well done for pushing on. Happy running πŸ€—

That's very true, I always feel better once I have reached that halfway point and turned around 😁 They are good though if you want to achieve a certain distance, once you have done half you haven't much option but to do the other half or just you won't get home 😁

That's exactly what I feel, "You haven't much option but to do the other half or just you won't get home!" Well done to you! And speedy too.

I have had a two month break to attempt to catch up with gardening. Completed W4R3 of C25k this morning. Prior to Covid I had reached 13k was hoping to work up to 10 miles (16.1km) and be awarded the 10 mile badge. Oh yes! New badge, haven't had a new badge for ages and ages. Feels a long way off at the moment, even little old W4R3 didn't feel easy. Perhaps 10 miles would be a good aim for you. Have fun!

Thank you . . . and yes, 10 miles maybe the one to aim for, it still sounds a long way at the moment, somehow even more than 16k! 😏 I did 5k early this morning and that seemed a bit of a slog, maybe I'm still suffering the effects of Wednesdays 12k πŸ€” Good luck with C25k, I'm sure you will be back to where you were very soon, just keep at it πŸ‘πŸ˜Š
