Longest run for me so far!!!

Just wrote my post and deleted it by mistake when I went to edit it!!!!๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Anyway Iโ€™ll make it shorter now!!

I signed up to a virtual 25 mile challenge for August and in a moment of madness changed it to 50 miles! With holidays and working Iโ€™m finding it a challenge but thatโ€™s good I suppose!! Iโ€™m nearly there!!

Wanted to do a long run on my day off so decided to do the long coastal route and it worked out well with it being low tide!

Set out about 9 ! Schools back here!! Feels very much like autumn too with a wee nip in the air!

I listened to Running Commentary podcasts which really distract me and I found I was hardly paying any attention to my Garmin which was good !

This route is definitely a trail run!! (Perhaps I should consider trail shoes!!!!?๐Ÿ˜‚) I love all the different sections and terrain! Thereโ€™s a lovely wooded bit before the salt marshes and beach! Spotted a huge jellyfish fish! Looks more like a cow pat!!!

The beach was hard going with bumpy ridges and if I went off that there was an โ€œadverse camberโ€ in places! It was so deserted apart from one or two dog walkers and odd rambler! I did get a bit startled when another friendly runner suddenly appeared behind me on the wee bridge! He just appeared out of nowhere!!!

I carried on along golf course, happy to pause while shots were taken!!! along cliff top , harbour and back home through the woods!! It started to rain too but I donโ€™t mind that at all! Actually felt not too tired! Itโ€™s definitely getting easier dare I say doing these longer runs!!!

Happy running everyone!! ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

Fabulous run! Its great when you feel like you can just keep going! It reminds me of good old Forrest Gump "I just felt like runnin" ๐Ÿ˜

Great route. You might need to consider trail shoes when it gets muddier ๐Ÿ‘

Sounds like a delicious run Sara! I also love the quote you've included in your collage (so true)!

I reckon if you make your 50 mile challenge then trail shoes will be the perfect reward ๐Ÿ˜‰.

It was a lovely run thank you!! Didnโ€™t feel rushed!! Iโ€™ve been googling trail shoes!! My husband rolled eyes when I mentioned them before!! Like when I needed to get a Garmin!!! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Yes getting more and more convinced that I need them!! ๐Ÿ˜€

ow, well done! I really need to start extending my distance again. Lovely post Sara.

I'm signed up for 50 miles too. i was thinking of extending it to 75, then the fatigue hit me, so i'm glad i didn't.

Trail shoes are great if your run is mostly off road and has lumps and bumps and rocks and mud. Mine are just as happy on road, where most of my road shoes are happy on moderate off road bits. x

Thank you! Iโ€™ve really had to push to get the 50 in! Got another 10 ish miles to go!! I get very mixed up with my km and miles!!!

I suppose there are lots of different trail shoes! I need a good supportive pair!! Would you need a gait analysis for them I wonder? I read they are all neutral! Is that right? ๐Ÿ˜€

in reply to Sarakc

Ive got exactly ten more miles to go. And I get them muddled too ๐Ÿ˜ณ

With trail shoes, I would get supportive ones if thatโ€™s what you need. I know people say they are all neutral, but given that most of us have to,run on roads to get to and from trails, you would need the support then.

I was also thinking if Iโ€™m running in the dark in the winter Iโ€™ll be sticking to the roads mainly but it canโ€™t hurt to have an extra pair! I must have had my only pair a good few months now!! ๐Ÿ˜€

in reply to Sarakc

I think you need to start looking for wear and loss of cushioning after about 250 miles. Itโ€™s good to have more than one pair and rotate wearing them anyway

Fantastic run and photos! I have that quote saved somewhere too! I do think there is something very special in a longer run - especial when you settle in to it like that! Just fab!๐Ÿ™‚

Wow! Sara! What a great run. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ I keep wondering if I need to invest in some trail shoes. ๐Ÿค” Your route looks glorious! Well done. xxx

Thank you! Yes thatโ€™s one of my favourite routes! I did my graduation run there except I drove to car park whereas now I can run from home! Thatโ€™s progression ha ha!!!

Iโ€™d like to get trail shoes but I canโ€™t really afford to at the moment ! I know I will get them eventually! ๐Ÿ˜€

Hey Sara

How are you lovely, I haven't seen you for a while, hope all is good with you.

Ooh this is a challenge eh? ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ‘ You will do it for sure. I'd like to try trail running, looks interesting, but I'm having trouble getting out to run to start with haha, so I'd better not venture to a different running surface, lol ๐Ÿ˜‚

Lovely photos of you. Keep us updated xx

Hi! Iโ€™m fine thanks! How are you getting on? Youโ€™re not on the IC are you?

I thought the virtual challenge was a good idea to keep me motivated but itโ€™s been a bit of a struggle with work and holidays and my sister was staying with me too! Think Iโ€™ll just about manage it! Under 10 miles to go or is that km!!? I get so muddled!!!

I like a bit of off road running! Iโ€™m lucky to have a choice of surfaces!! Keeps it interesting!! ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธxx

No, not on the IC, just not enough time to run really, hence why legs feel weak. Strengthening exercises are called for, haha. Good luck ๐Ÿ‘ xx
