Just wrote my post and deleted it by mistake when I went to edit it!!!!๐ฌ
Anyway Iโll make it shorter now!!
I signed up to a virtual 25 mile challenge for August and in a moment of madness changed it to 50 miles! With holidays and working Iโm finding it a challenge but thatโs good I suppose!! Iโm nearly there!!
Wanted to do a long run on my day off so decided to do the long coastal route and it worked out well with it being low tide!
Set out about 9 ! Schools back here!! Feels very much like autumn too with a wee nip in the air!
I listened to Running Commentary podcasts which really distract me and I found I was hardly paying any attention to my Garmin which was good !
This route is definitely a trail run!! (Perhaps I should consider trail shoes!!!!?๐) I love all the different sections and terrain! Thereโs a lovely wooded bit before the salt marshes and beach! Spotted a huge jellyfish fish! Looks more like a cow pat!!!
The beach was hard going with bumpy ridges and if I went off that there was an โadverse camberโ in places! It was so deserted apart from one or two dog walkers and odd rambler! I did get a bit startled when another friendly runner suddenly appeared behind me on the wee bridge! He just appeared out of nowhere!!!
I carried on along golf course, happy to pause while shots were taken!!! along cliff top , harbour and back home through the woods!! It started to rain too but I donโt mind that at all! Actually felt not too tired! Itโs definitely getting easier dare I say doing these longer runs!!!
Happy running everyone!! ๐๐โโ๏ธ

It was a lovely run thank you!! Didnโt feel rushed!! Iโve been googling trail shoes!! My husband rolled eyes when I mentioned them before!! Like when I needed to get a Garmin!!! ๐
Yes getting more and more convinced that I need them!! ๐
ow, well done! I really need to start extending my distance again. Lovely post Sara.
I'm signed up for 50 miles too. i was thinking of extending it to 75, then the fatigue hit me, so i'm glad i didn't.
Trail shoes are great if your run is mostly off road and has lumps and bumps and rocks and mud. Mine are just as happy on road, where most of my road shoes are happy on moderate off road bits. x
Thank you! Iโve really had to push to get the 50 in! Got another 10 ish miles to go!! I get very mixed up with my km and miles!!!
I suppose there are lots of different trail shoes! I need a good supportive pair!! Would you need a gait analysis for them I wonder? I read they are all neutral! Is that right? ๐
Ive got exactly ten more miles to go. And I get them muddled too ๐ณ
With trail shoes, I would get supportive ones if thatโs what you need. I know people say they are all neutral, but given that most of us have to,run on roads to get to and from trails, you would need the support then.
I was also thinking if Iโm running in the dark in the winter Iโll be sticking to the roads mainly but it canโt hurt to have an extra pair! I must have had my only pair a good few months now!! ๐
I think you need to start looking for wear and loss of cushioning after about 250 miles. Itโs good to have more than one pair and rotate wearing them anyway
Fantastic run and photos! I have that quote saved somewhere too! I do think there is something very special in a longer run - especial when you settle in to it like that! Just fab!๐
Thank you! Yes thatโs one of my favourite routes! I did my graduation run there except I drove to car park whereas now I can run from home! Thatโs progression ha ha!!!
Iโd like to get trail shoes but I canโt really afford to at the moment ! I know I will get them eventually! ๐
How are you lovely, I haven't seen you for a while, hope all is good with you.
Ooh this is a challenge eh? ๐๐๐๐ You will do it for sure. I'd like to try trail running, looks interesting, but I'm having trouble getting out to run to start with haha, so I'd better not venture to a different running surface, lol ๐
Hi! Iโm fine thanks! How are you getting on? Youโre not on the IC are you?
I thought the virtual challenge was a good idea to keep me motivated but itโs been a bit of a struggle with work and holidays and my sister was staying with me too! Think Iโll just about manage it! Under 10 miles to go or is that km!!? I get so muddled!!!
I like a bit of off road running! Iโm lucky to have a choice of surfaces!! Keeps it interesting!! ๐๐โโ๏ธxx
