Been hiding for too long.... can I come back now ?

Hi to everyone on the bridge from a fellow bridgetonian who spectacularly fell off a kerb last year and ended up on IC for way longer than expected. I hope you are all ok and staying safe and well ❤️. I have missed everyone on the forum and my VR buddies, missed the park run get togethers but just needed to hide for a while during the slowest recovery period ever with set backs along the way. So new year started with new trainers and a Garmin watch ( inspired by Ckeeky the coolest runner I know 😎) and I restarted C25k in January ( yes it’s still magic ) and tentatively redid Ju-jus plan ( yes it’s magic too ) and yesterday ran just shy of 10k ( wish I had my glasses on and still learning about my new fandangled garmin). It’s been a mad 3 months as a keyworker but managed to keep running through the busiest of weeks. It’s been a long 9 months but never gave up on my goal of getting back to you all and running still works wonders for me in so many ways. Take care everyone and to all of you lovely VR buddies ... happy running this week ❤️. It’s going to be a hot one 🥵

Hellooo! So lovely to see you back and well done on getting back up to nearly 10k. Parkrun meet up back on the cards when it resumes. Yay 😁 xx

Hello lovely you. Hope you and Mr Sandie are well and just can’t wait for a meet up where I won’t loose any of you 🤪. I still have my pirate accessories from last September sitting in my draw ... might well wear them 😝

We’re both fine. I retired at the end of April and now just waiting to get out to the french house (end of next week hopefully) then keeping 🤞that parkrun will be back by September so we can all get together again 😃

That’s great news about France Sandie. Have a fabulous time running out there and look forward to September.

Hi and congratulations on not just recovering from the IC but also working through both plans while in lockdown as a key worker - awesome. I hope you continue to enjoy running in 2020 totally injury free. Happy running 🤗

Hello Wimborne, so great you're off the IC and got running back through c25k and 10k. You sound very busy but you're right running can work wonders for our body and mind.

I've seen the temperatures for down south it's going to be roasting. I'm in Scotland and the weather has to be a mixture of rain and sun.

Happy running to you to 🌞🌞

Thank you Buddy ❤️... The weather in Scotland sounds blissful for the week.. shorter runs for me and dare I say getting up in middle of night ( well 6am ) to run may be the only way this week.

Yes it can be energy zapping running in those temperatures

Hi Wimborne 🖐

Wow , way to come back...all mended and up to 10k again! Sorry you have had such a long period recovering, I too have been on the IC far too long and know how frustrating and boring it is...

Rehab takes time and patience, it must be great being able to get back to regular and then those longer runs. I have taken heart with your post, it shows what can be done with strengthening and keeping faith.

Happy running and return to the forum.

🌻xx

Hi BBR. So sorry to hear you are on IC. You are so right that it takes time and rushing it only makes it longer in the end.... it is tough and disheartening being on IC. I hope your rehab is going well and is not too painful. I feel blessed to be back and don’t take my running for granted like I did before. I am also a whizz on a wobble board now too.. 🤪take care and keep strengthening.... keep that faith going too....

Arghhh wrote you a long reply and lost it! Basically in a nutshell- yesss, you made it back on here. 👏👏You’ve been missed and there is a veritable herd of VRBs chomping at the bit waiting for a PR meet-up in your neck of the woods when this confounded virus has left us alone. Virus you’re not welcome. Goodbye. 👎 ➡️ 😡

So glad your running has gone well since vacating the IC. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Keep posting now won’t you? 😀👍

Hello you !!!! It is so lovely to be back at last... and as always so excited to think of a VRB meet up.... and next year don’t forget the Severn Bridge 10k ! I said to Sandie I will wear my pirate stuff which I never got to use last September 🏴‍☠️ 👍. Here’s to a fabulous meet up soon I hope.

I would love it sooooo much if we could do Severn Bridge together next year. It’s held in August and it’s a fantastic race! Looking forward to it already (beware, it was 27 degrees last year! 🥵🥵🥵 😎 😎 😎)

Sometimes we need to retreat to your cave and nurture our healing process. So lovely to see folks emerging back into the community whenever they are ready 🤗

Wimborne! Welcome back, glad you've made a good (if slow) recovery 😊

I'm back on the IC myself - Bluebirdrunner kindly budged up for me. I'll be watching for your posts, it's so heartening to see someone make it back out there.

Hello lovely GOG.... so gutted to hear you are on IC too with BBR ☹️. Hope are you resting up and healing. Take it slow whatever you do. I know it can be tough and disheartening on there. It has taken me 8 long months to properly restart running but I am sure I didn’t help myself or heed advice. I tried a few times along the way which ended up being false starts... and causing further issues and it seemed like I would be there forever. I wasn’t even sure in January how far I would get but just kept going week by week. I was hoping to pop on after C25K but Covid came and then my world went really busy. Stay bright and keep looking ahead, no matter how long it takes and remember each day is a day closer to a bouncy walk or very gentle joggette ..... ❤️🤞

Ha ha , the gazelle returns! We have missed you so much Wimborne and I promise at the next Parkrun meet up I will dress up as a pirate again as you missed my 50 parkrun meet. I may still have your badge too. Happy to do Poole park or Southampton, which we had to cancel in April.

I must say I was tearing my hair out after 12 weeks of not running but the delay is worth it to make sure you don’t make matters worse.

So so glad to hear that you have got back and it’s providing some sort of release during these strange times, especially with the work you do. I’m sending you a big virtual Hug 🤗

Wimborne in reply toDexy5

Ha! Gazelle is hiding still... But my inner Donkey has been released 😂. And yes for pirates and I don’t mind Southampton or Poole? There’s also Upton near me? 12 weeks Dexy is tough going for you... and I am thinking of you. Slow and steady worked well for me once I realised recovery can’t be rushed. Once you are back and ready we will sort out that date...👍

I’ve done a few weeks of rehab running now so I am much happier . I am up to 4k run , 500m walk and 1 k run now, so almost at the magic straight 5k. This week I hope .

Hello Wimborne! We haven’t ‘met’ but I feel I know you through Dexy5 who is my great friend and got me into this trotting lark. I’ve only enjoyed one VRB PR meet-up so far but am really looking forward to a get together before too long - I’ll be the one at the back! So welcome back and happy running!

Ooooh! Lovely to see you back Wimborne! It’s been ages! So glad you’re back! I bet the running has been a real help these last few months, good timing to finally be off the IC. Fantastic about your nearly 10k (I know what you mean about reading the Garmin 🤣). Looking forward to seeing you again when parkrun finally returns 🤞 Enjoy and stay safe x

Hello Wimbourne, Lovely to see your post. Well done on your recovery and now nearly at 10k. Here's to happy and injury free running.

I confess I have stopped running in order to try and reclaim all of our garden. So pleased at my stamina levels which I am sure are due to my running.

Thank you for your key worker role. My husband is in the clinically extremely vunerable category so we are keeping away from people and very grateful to so many.

😊🌸

Thank you ❤️. I bet your garden looks beautiful and hope you are enjoying it. My poor garden resembles a dry and patchy field this year but it’s ok as I like fields. Take care and for your husband too. It’s been a long 3 months for you both but needed for you. Be careful as the world is waking up and stay safe.

Just found this great post! Lovely to see you back again and sorry to hear that you had a long spell on the IC 😕. I notice from the other comments that you have met up with other folk at PR. I have relatives in Dorset (now live in Somerset) so it would be wonderful to join you in a get together. Hopefully PR will get going again soon. Happy running 😊
