Hi all, I've not posted here for some time but have been back stalking the forum again recently - I'm in need of a bit of positivity and what better place to come. I have kept up running but not as regularly as I was due to working extended days and trying to do a PhD in the day I wasn't at work. I'm taking a year out of the PhD and my hours are back to normal, and I'm currently off work at the moment due to "work related issues". So, lots of time to get back into the habit of running to improve my general wellbeing.
I was going to follow Juju's magic plan last time it started but I decided I hadn't been running regularly enough to dive right back into a 10 km plan. However, I needed some structure - enter C25k plan. But I could already run 30 mins though much slower than I could a two years ago. I decided to follow it but instead of walking I'd run slowly. In the "run" bits, I'd run more quickly.
What do you know? It worked! Today I did w5r3 (adapted). I ran slowly for 5 mins, fast for 20 mins and then finished off with a slow (ish) 5 mins. I still did the warm up/cool down walks, because I like them.
I feel fitter than I have since I did the B210k programme, I'm getting some sunshine, smiling and waving at other runners and walkers (from 2+ meters away) and I'm now moving onto the Magic Plan.
The only awkward moment on today's run was my GP phoned towards the end of the fast 20 mins and I think he thought I was having some sort of attack because I was breathing so hard!
