First 5k race on Sunday!

Hey all 👋🏻

I have my first 5k race on Sunday and as it’s all new I’m a bit worried about what I should pack! I know I’m massively overthinking but aside from my running gear, am I missing anything?

Can u tell I’m a little nervous? 😂

Thanks 😊

Congratulations for going to your 1st event. Pack a smile on your face, family or friends to cheer you on, hold any bag/clothes for you while you run and to take celebration photo at end. Safety pins to attach number although many events provide these, emergency contact details which you may be asked to write on back of number. Have a great time 🤗

Thanks 😊 I’m going with a friend who is also running but as my kids r still young, they’re staying home with dad as they wouldn’t enjoy the waiting around. I’m gonna dress like I would just going for a run at home (apart from wearing my charity T-shirt) so I suppose I really am worrying for no reason! I’m looking forward to the buzz and atmosphere

Relax and enjoy. Although I personally spent a lot of pre race time in these lovely porta loos they provide at big events 🤣🤣🤣

Oh I hope so!!! The half marathoners have a medal ceremony but us mere 5k’ers don’t but I think we still get a medal for taking part 🤷🏻‍♀️ be lovely if so... I got a nice medal for doing race at your pace in December so be great to add to it 😬

As above for the advice.

Relax though... this race is a celebration of your journey to that start line... people will cheer you along accordingly... have lots of fun out there.

Something warm to put on after? Have a brilliant time, go at your own pace - don’t be pulled along by others - and enjoy it!
