What a glorious morning for a run! I wasn’t sure if I was going to go, after a rather large Indian Takeaway last night, with second helpings involved. I was sure I would be feeling sluggish, but I was up and the sun was inviting. Still a little chilly. Although I knew I would soon warm up, I don’t like to feel cold at the start of a run. Short sleeved t-shirt with lightweight jacket, neck buff, running tights and sun visor. I dispensed with checking in the mirror until after I’ve had my hair done 😂.
Of I go on my slightly uphill warm up walk. ‘Hills are your friends’, I tell myself! I didn’t really want to run 5K so I would keep my options open, with this route I could. Off I go. Freddie singing ‘It’s a Beautiful Day’ 🎶 . First 2 kms are slightly downhill and I’m not feeling sluggish. I don’t know what it is about the 3rd km on this route. It’s an incline, but it’s not much and I should be able to deal with it without being a drama Queen! I decide after all that I will do another 5K today.
The 4th km is more of an incline and I plod upwards ‘Hills are your friends’. I deal with this one much better! I stop briefly to take off my jacket and take a photo.
Now I’m at the top of the lane where I live. The 5th km is slightly uphill at the start, then downhill to the end of the run. This time I feel like I’m flying. Past my home, cross the road and down a steeper bit until I reach 5K. That felt good! I enjoyed this run more than I have others since I moved. 😊
Home for stretches and coffee. I notice that my brother and father are still sound asleep!
