Take it easy and start slow for at least the first mile. Do not, repeat do not see other runners and think you need to keep pace, this is your race and you need to run it your way.

The training is done and you can do the distance just enjoy the occasion.

Good luck! I’m running a 10K tomorrow too. You know you can do it so take advantage of the fact that You’ve got longer to enjoy the run rather than going out all guns blazing at the start. It’s nice to save a little for a sprint finish!

You know you can do the distance - so believe in yourself and as others have said, run your race and don't worry about the time! Nerves are normal but I am sure you will enjoy it. Have a great day - look forward to reading your race report!🙂

I still take off like a jackrabbit at the start, it's a hard reflex to curb :) So, don't think you have "messed up" if you do the first few yards "too fast" :) Take it slowly then. Watch the people passing you by, it's fun to pass them by at a later stage when they haven't the C25k wisdom and stamina you now do :)

Nerves? Very natural. However, it helps me to remind myself that every single entrant whose first event this is, is running with people who had THEIR first event :)

And...you have earned your spot. You are no "interloper" or "chancer". You did the requirements and belong there.

Enjoy it :) It will be a learning experience for sure, and can also be an enjoyable one, depending on my own mood/circumstances I can run with a happy daydream or avidly noting my progress and surroundings.

Because the truth is - when you run, it's between you and the road. Everything else is just "there".

Please do post your run report :)

And wishing you ten happy Kilometers. :)

Im doing my first "race" but not a race 10k today! The running group I did Bridge to 10k are holding an event just for us and the group (family and friends can come too).

I am nervous as hell!! But I will start really slowly and I have given myself points in along the way i can stop and walk for a moment if needs be. And im going to have a little warm up jog before to ger the nerves out of my legs

Good luck for today!!

Good luck. Have a good drink of water beforehand but not just before the start! Enjoy 😊

You've got this Tracy, you know you can do it...try not to worry about your time and just take it at your own pace. Hope you manage to relax and enjoy it...let us know how you get on 🏃‍♀️👍

Of course you can do it! Don’t start off too fast, pace yourself, enjoy the scenery and be very proud when you cross that finish line. I hope there’s bling so you can show it off here 🏅

Have fun first and foremost Tracymed! Running in a race is such an amazing experience and the other runners/crowds will spur you on if you find you’re flagging. Run your own race and remember the rule - we need a photo of your bling afterwards!

Enjoy it! 👏👏👏

Good luck! I ran my first 10k yesterday and was nervous too, especially at the start where I saw fellow runners wearing T-shirt’s that read “10 marathons in 10 days” 😮 but I needn’t have worried. Once we had set off and I relaxed into it, it was fine - in fact it was really enjoyable! Fellow runners were encouraging each other and there was a great community spirit. I forgot about the timings and went with the flow. Wishing you a very happy run today, you can do this 😀💪🏼

I'm doing my first 10k run (I won't be racing) on Sept 29th. Details just come through. My current pace is slower than the slowest pacer and means I should finish just ahead of the prize giving and the start of the kids fun run. If not it says I will have to run/walk on pavement. That is good motivation 😂😂😂😂

Hope it went well for you 😉
