5k Sunday

Well my woes of the last few days are fading away. First I lost my phone, then NRC went wrong and I couldn't sign in, then I ran a hot and horrible 3k yesterday that didn't register anywhere, and I haven't slept much for a while. But! Today is another day, NRC logged in again, the sun is shining and my young and cheerful neighbour is ready to walk along the river while I run.

All the tech is working, off I go, it's hot but every so often there's shade from trees, I go off too fast, slow down, grin, breathing good, legs tired, I'm not surprised! Yesterday was busy, I walked in the morning, shopped then ran then spent the evening with daughter and had BBQ

It's so lovely out though, legs tiring, walk a bit, turn and head back, there's my neighbour, run some more get to 5k stop watch and oh I'm two and a half kilometres from car so I misjudged the turn. Walked back, took photos, home again.

That was lovely.

Run happy or rest well

Hi Sola! Congratulations on your run this morning👏👏. I have not long been back home after running 11.38km in 1hour 36mins. and I can tell you my effort today has not loaded onto run world app so I really don’t know what is going on. I’ll give it 24hours and hope fully it will have righted itself 🤞🤞.

It was hot this morning wasn’t it even though there was a slight breeze. I’ve found a new running route which is beautiful .

Hope the rest of your day and weekend is restful.

Lovely photo Sola!❤️

Well done - and running two days in a row! I applaud you! 👏🙂

I ran early (very unlike me!) but definitely what I will do for my weekend long run as we move into summer. Not so easy before work on weekdays, as I am a bit of a night owl and 5am starts don’t really appeal to me !😵‍💫😴

I'd love to get up early but I can't so I run when I can. You had a really long run, I'd forgotten I ran yesterday when my legs started to ache a bit but then remembered I'll see what tomorrow brings 😂

Sounds like a lovely run Sola. I can't do really early runs either but it has to be in the morning for me otherwise I don't enjoy it. Silly really as I did C25K after work in the evening! Enjoy your Sunday 😀

I did a lot of C25k in the afternoons after work, then started to run short runs after work and longer ones on days off, I enjoyed today's run I didn't enjoy yesterday's run, I might or might not run tomorrow 😄

Great run for you and so glad your tech is back again. Love the photo! ❤️

Rest day here-I’ve been enjoying an ice cream in the garden!

Thanks, it should have been a rest day here too whoops, I could have walked with my neighbour but I really wanted to do this run, I've sat in the garden for a while, too hot at the moment, but so lovely. Photos are odd, I'm slim and toned until the camera shows that I'm really dumpy and lumpy but we are taking photos for every walk or run so here I am and as the runs get longer I might look a bit more toned 😃

Mobile phone photos are not flattering at all are they? especially if you are short, like me. I love the photo bomb in the background!

It was warm out there wasn’t it - thank goodness for the wind.

Oh goodness I didn't even notice we both took the photos trying to miss the family that was suddenly milling around, I should have used this one.

Well done for completing 5k today after 3k yesterday, and in the heat. I don’t think I’ve got the energy to run on consecutive days!

When you posted about your NRC issues I doubled checked and found mine was behaving. I was still having issues with my runs not recording though. This wasn’t a big deal for the non-distance type runs, but it was definitely a problem for the distance runs. I started a 5k guided run yesterday and coachB said he’d be back with me at the 1k mark……silence! I knew roughly when he should have kicked back in, so knew I was on my own for the rest of the run. I think I’ve finally sorted out the problem thanks to Google! Seems to be that I hadn’t put the right setting on the Health app (who knew! I’ve never used this app on the phone, but it seems to be important! ). I’ll find out next week on my next distance run.

Enjoy your dog walk and rest 😁

It's a great free app that sometimes plays up about, I sorted mine first thing with the help of Instructor57 and my laptop, it's always worth checking for updates too, I'm not sure I've got anything on my health app, but it seems to be working, sometimes I run every day for a while but I'm not sure about tomorrow, I still have the fartlek run on week 1 then I'll start week 2.I'm lookin Ng forward to a dog potter while he runs sniffs and plays thanks

GTFC profile image

It's definitely patience for me. You're doing it all right even if sometimes it doesn't feel it. You're getting consistent and that really is the key. I know you know all this but it's so true. Give yourself a little boost at the end of your next run, even if it's the last 20 metres or so. You'll have it in you and it'll be a reminder that it's there.

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply toGTFC

If I start slow enough I do that at the end, if I start too fast I flag by the end, but yes I do know and I can be consistent now

You know my motto 'Steady Away!' 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Your steady is twice as fast as my steady 😂😂😂 but my steady is slightly faster

oh I am having a few days like that! I didn’t sleep at all well on Monday Night! Up at 3.15 to catch the plane! Sort of slept on the plane!

Got to Mothers had lunch and fell as sleep!

We all went out last night! Got home again to Mums I felt really drained so went bed! Next thing we know Mums door bell is going so hubby gets up to investigate it’s the Ambulance crew outside! One of neighbours has passed away can go and sit with his wife! So all up now wide a wake! 1:30am finally got back to sleep 3:15

I am hoping for a quiet day today! Lol

So no running today cap it off I have two heel blisters 😂 Hopefully 🙏 ! Tomorrow we are going on a coach trip so chance of running tomorrow! Might get out for one tonight when it cools down!

Being out of sync is hard on our bodies, then we fall asleep and catch up then don't sleep so well at night, the circle continues, hope your sleep sorts itself out soon.the runs will wait for when you can

Yes you are right! Some gentle exercises in pool when i brave it later (not heated) will be good! Relaxing is good as well! (I’m not very good at that)! So chilled out lunch by the sea lovely food and few drinks which is practically the only time I drink!

I have found previously that a small break from running actually helps with the next runs as well as swapping exercises to another form of cardio!

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply toBGood

I too find a break means I feel really fresh and ready for the next run. Enjoy your break
