Blood tests okay๐Ÿค—

I posted about feeling tired when running about 2 weeks ago, went to the doctor and he arranged blood tests and thankfully they came back okay.

The tiredness has hung around and as there is no medical reason I've come to a conclusion.

In December I did a 10k every Monday which added up to 5.

I've also done 2 10ks in january along with the other days of running.

I think I've maybe done too much , not sure. Just can't think of any other reason for it.

I love running and don't want to stop so maybe not do so many 10ks ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—

๐Ÿค” could be... could also be a touch of SAD... too many grim days and not enough VitD/ sunlight. Definitely gets too me when it's grim out ๐Ÿ™ƒ

VitD deficiency came up in my bloods last year. Supplements in the winter months help for sure!

I started taking a vitamin D supplement a few months back when I read that people with hypothyroidism (which I have) often have lower levels. I am convinced it has helped me.๐Ÿ™‚

That was my thought too. There is some evidence that Vit-D helps muscle regeneration, especially the heart muscles. I stress 'some', it's not proven.

I think some is psychosomatic; I don't think we realise just how important sunlight is to our bodies and minds. Since working outdoors these last 5 years I know that overall I have actually ended up with more energy, in spite of what I need to expend and less overall mental dips (apart from those relating to specific stresses).

Good news ๐Ÿ˜€ Are you getting good restful sleep? I started taking melatonin recently and my Fitbit tells me Iโ€™m averaging 25 minutes per night more sleep. Also more time in deep sleep. I can certainly feel that Iโ€™m sleeping better. I have actually woken up a couple of times feeling refreshed!

So happy that you don't have anything to worry about, perhaps as you say you have been running too often, try a 10K once a month with a parkrun once every two weeks and another 5K midweek.

Since graduating from C25K and graduating from Graduate10 I have been running two times a week, usually a Saturday and Wednesday, although after saying that, this week I have ran 3 times, are you at Drumpelliier parkrun tomorrow?

Thanks AlMorr, I will be going to parkrun next Saturday so I've got another full 2 days off from running. Plenty walking the dog though keep the legs moving ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ•

So glad to hear it wasnโ€™t anything to worry about. As you say, maybe ease up on the regularity of your 10ks.

Happy running ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

Glad the tests came back clear.

Sounds like youโ€™ve been burning the candle a both ends Buddy and you need to ease up a bit.

I agree with others who mentioned SAD - it could be a touch of the dull weather doldrums. Someone else mentioned melatonin. My OH takes it as he does a lot of long-haul travel and he says itโ€™s helping to regulate his body clock. Worth a try.

Great news about your blood test Buddy. Rein in your distances a bit maybe? And yes, these dark and dingy winter months are often to blame. Spring soon! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

Thatโ€™s a lot of running fitted around life, get plenty of rest and maybe some vitamins might help, take care of yourself

Glad the tests are ok, Buddy. Thatโ€™s fab news ๐Ÿ˜Š

Maybe the runs in part. Not sure about you but I miss the light in the winter. And December-add on the craziness of Christmas- it gets pretty busy. Guess sometimes have to admit that rest is important too...

Test results are good news. I agree with others maybe a tad too much running combined with dark and dank tends to sap your energy. I have seen my first snowdrops this week, spring is round the corner. Take it easy and happy running

Glad all is good.

Maybe you just need a week on a beach in a hot sunny climate! :-)

It's a good excuse to book a holiday if nothing else ๐Ÿ˜‰

Glad your tests came back clear. I had something similar a couple of years ago and my oh so understanding doctor of same age said I shouldn't be doing exercise at my age! Changed my doctor to one who says good for you keep running. I hope it's just your body trying to do a bit of winter hibernation and you've soon kick started it into spring. Happy running

Sorry to hear you are not so great. Sounds like you have been doing a lot of running. A rest may be required.

Good news Buddy. Must be great to put your mind at rest on that score. I think ups and downs are normal esp at this time of year. Hope things improve for you soon.

Good news re the blood tests Buddy. ๐Ÿ˜„

Iโ€™m another fan of vitamin D supplement, - I trialled it (doubtfully) for a month & I have found it very helpful, so still I use it. ๐Ÿ˜„

Good that there's nothing medically wrong, hopefully easing back a bit on the long runs will get you back to feeling tip top again. I agree with everyone saying about the lack of daylight in these winter months affecting our energy levels. Roll on Spring and sunshine!
