Following on from RunaroundSue 's post about Parkrun being like a bug you catch...Parkrun tourism saw another meet up of VRB's. Photo shows me, Ssasqueen , Pianism , another of Runaroundsue's recruits Sharuns, Runaroundsue and Mr RAS. We didn't get rained on, we did make it up the hill, twice, and we did enjoy breakfast afterwards. Of course. A bunch of us with the bug then.
I only hauled myself out of bed to go and meet new VRBs so thank you for the encouragement ladies π

Set off in my jacket then took it off, parcelled it up in to its own pocket and it has a strap that goes round my wrist. Headband also came off and round wrist and I carried my gloves. I was still too hot though.
Aha! I need to learn all that! Donβt you envy the runners that rock up to parkrun start line with just shorts and tees.. and nothing else anytime between Nov-Mar
Its not always easy but you should dress as though the temperature is 10Β° Celsius higher when running. I tend to do pre-event setup at our local parkrun so I'm warmed up / acclimatised for the start of the run.
I got a very thin running jacket from Sports Direct (I'm the one in the blue headband) and I wear that just over a thin technical running top. I then wear a warm jacket and gloves and leave those at the start line. No hat, ever. I find that's exactly right for me for nearly everything other than biting cold, in which case I might put on light gloves.
I don't know who's who in the photo, but is that an aldi glow in the dark cycling jacket 2nd from the right? I love mine for cycling but never thought of using it for running!
Well it is an Aldi cycling jacket, not sure if it glows in the dark. I bought it in the early days of C25K, when I wasn't spending much on gear in case I didn't stick with it. That was over 3 years ago so I have felt justified in spending a bit more since
It is useful because I can shove that and gloves in the back pockets, one even has a zip. I can easily tie it around my waist if I get too warm.
I kept it on on Saturday.
Mr RAS is wearing a later model of Aldi cycling jacket, his is better in rain, but probably a bit heavier.
It looks very like mine which I only bought this year. The white stripes on the arms and back of mine glow in the dark - like REALLY glow π. I can't believe how great it is given what I paid for it. Because of all the mud I've washed it lots already and it's come up like new every time. A good buy!
I have just noticed that one of our gang was missing from the photo. I think Marion was chatting with some other people she knew - she was the only one of us that has run at Woodbank before.
