A number of us ( Katnap TailChaser BaddieThePirate UnfitNoMore Jay66UK and I’m sure some I’ve forgotten - sorry guys!) have been planning to join Pianism at Lyme Park parkrun a week on Saturday. This week’s parkrun email announced that it is the 15th anniversary of parkrun. So many of us have moved onto parkrun after graduating C25k, wouldn’t it be wonderful to get a big VRB meet up on the day (whether running or volunteering)? I know there are loads of you in the Manchester/Cheshire area, so if you’d like to join us, please post your reply here and we would love to see you 🏃♀️🏃♂️🏃♀️🏃♂️🏃♀️🏃♂️
Come and celebrate parkrun 15th anniversary ... - Bridge to 10K
Come and celebrate parkrun 15th anniversary at Lyme Park on 5th October
Have a wonderful time guys. I’m looking forward to the post report on that one. Unfortunately, unable to join you . So sorry 🤥🤣🤣
Enjoy yourselves guys - like I need to say that! It’s a given. 👍🏃♂️🏃♀️😀 Can’t wait for pics and run reports.
I still need to make it up there, but that weekend just wouldn’t work, even for a bonkers “would drive anywhere to meet VRBs” running woman like me.
Have a blast! 👏👏👏
Have a wonderful time everyone. Lots of photos please. 😊 Bye now x
I have this one in my diary... with alerts! It’ll be great to see some new faces too. If found at the top of the hill in a heap, pause my watch and roll me back down it 🤣
Looking forward to meeting you UNM! It’s going to be...er...fun? 😂
The last 4K are fun... hopefully they’ll help me forget the first one 🤣. I tailwalked it in February and loved it. I have a friend who runs it sub 20, I’ll be happy with under 50!
Looking forward to meeting you and your tribe.
🤣 at least the worst bit is over with early. I’m hoping the Wine Run has got us ready psychologically 😁
When I was fairly new to parkun, 19th January 2017, Geoff and I walked the route. We were in walking boots and both had colds. We timed it at one hour, seven minutes and eight seconds.
I really hope that I can run some of it and beat that time, but I must say that I am not looking forward to the first part
You aren’t the only one. I think we are all a little bit dreading it 😬 But it will be an achievement!
I have a PB of 56 around it... I’m feeling pretty speedy right now... apart from the walking boots and colds bit 🤣. Little miss UNM is planning a walk up and then a run... if I try to run all of it she will do doubt beat me.
I’ll be celebrating the 15th birthday in my home parkrun here in Ireland. Look forward to the post run report.
I’ll be doing my first UK parkrun in Eastville the following weekend. Looking forward to it.
Damien
Ah, this sounds so much fun. It’s a bit far for me from London, otherwise I would be totally up for it. I’m certainly going to be parkrunning somewhere that Saturday, so keep the updates coming and we can run together virtually.
Hmm. Don't know where my reply to this went!
Yesterday I saw a lady picking up conkers and had a flashback to collecting conkers in Lyme Park as a child. Then I immediately thought of all the people on here who've posted about LP PR! Bit far for me now though as I'm down South these days, but have a fab time 🙂
Yessssssssss! I can come! 👏👏👏👏👏👏 😀👍🏃♀️
It’s our annual rowing club German exchange weekend so Mr Cheeky will be otherwise engaged on Friday evening - so I tentatively broached the idea of me not being needed (🤞) and he said I wasn’t! So I’m going to drive up on Friday and stay somewhere dog friendly. 🐕 Flossie will be coming too! 😀
I can’t hang around forever afterwards, but I’m sure I’ll have time for coffee and cake!
The FOMO has been gnawing at me - and now it’s not! Happy days. 😀😀
See y’all there Sandie1961 TailChaser , Katnap and kittens, BaddieThePirate , UnfitNoMore , Pianism , Jay66UK and whoever else is able to come! 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♂️🏃♂️🏃♂️🐕
Yay cheeky shall go to Lyme Park, All that practice at Aston court will come in useful. 🐿👏🏻👏🏻
Too far unfortunately but have fun!🎉🎂👍
I'll be there with Geoff. Possibly with Sharuns and one or two others who are not on this forum.
I wish I hadn't read Jay66UK 's post
Although the video would indicate that there is actually a bit more not-uphill than I remembered.
I recognised quite a few Marple Runners in their (Dennis the) Menace shirts.
Not looking forward to the last 200m or so... but the last stride will feel amazing.
Now, time for the real preparation, I haven’t looked where the cafe is yet!
I just got so engrossed in this thread that I was thinking Lyme Park is tomorrow. What a relief that it will be muddy Marple
This gives me time to fit in two more runs during the week. I need to build up a bit ready for this.
We did a Freedom Run at Clumber Park on Monday - the parkrun route is waymarked. It wasn't a difficult run and hardly any hill but I walked a fair bit, just couldn't keep running. Not sure why, maybe because we ran just over 1km to the start, or because I ran too soon after breakfast, it followed a day when we did a lot of walking, or maybe I was just practicing for Lyme Park
I was fine afterwards, we walked back to the campsite for showers and second breakfast, then returned to Clumber Park and walked alongside the lake and through the gardens until late afternoon.
Then our Wednesday walk was a bit short, only 4k. No particular reason, we just ran along the avenue from the campsite until the end of the track and returned to the start.
So no slacking for me next week.
Sounds great. I'm around 35/40 miles away. Maybe I'll be able to join you for the 20th anniversary when I've practised hills! Have a great day . 😊
Reading this led me to read Jays post which predated my time on here. Sooooo funny 😂 🤣. I’ve only done one PR and you couldn’t get a flatter route. As a Londoner bit far for me but will be thinking of you all 🏃♀️🏃♀️ and full credit
Sorry, I should have posted my info here for anyone who is following this post
