Lovely Poem Buddy34 . Thanks so much for sharing. I’m so looking forward to that day coming. I’m looking forward also to running around our local parkrun course next Saturday with our little parkrun tourist group. The Six of us will be wearing our Apricot T-Shirts with pride.
parkrun is something which is very special to me. It’s a free 5K run in a park every Saturday morning. That’s it. Shouldn’t be anything special. But it gets very addictive. My local parkrun usually has about 150 People running, jogging and walking. I’ve lived in my town Navan for 19 years now. Other than neighbours and the odd friend I didn’t have a large network of friends locally. But since starting to do parkrun 3 years ago I have made great friends from the local community and I can’t walk through the town without bumping into someone from parkrun. I also love taking part with my Son.
Even running at different parkruns is a great experience. It gives me a goal to run faster, chase a PB , run for fun or chase a free milestone T-Shirt. Give it a go when they start up again. It’s fun and free.
But i understand too where Buddy34 is coming from. I know a few runners who also love running on their own and don’t take part in races or parkrun.
Thank you Damien, I really love your enthusiasm and can feel it radiate through your post. There are lots of them around me and the nearest one being the Humber Bridge Country Park. It's been mentioned to me before and I have signed up and got a number but I really like just going alone. Also every Saturday in the football season my son and I follow Grimsby Town home and away so travel all over the country watching games. I may try one during the end of season one time. Never say never. Wishing you a great week of running ahead.
I've did park run a long while ago. I think I'm with GTC but probably for different reasons. I get quite nervous at the start until the field spreads out. Not sure if it's some kind of claustrophobia🥴. My running is better now so I keep promising to give it another go🤔
