Stomach Bug

So of course, two days before my race, I come down with a stomach bug. Yesterday couldn't keep much down and woke up today still queasy. I plan on re-hydrating today with sports drinks, hopefully the worst of it is over. Any other tips to get back to health quickly? I really don't want to miss my first 10K race.

I am so sorry to hear this kwell39. How frustrating for you. I don't have any personal experience with this but would just rest well today, stay hydrated, like you said, and hope for the best. Be prepared to not participate if you still feel crappy, and if you are well enough to run, don't push it or expect a PB. Perhaps those with more race experience will pop along shortly with some better advice, but sending a huge virtual hug your way. Take care of yourself!

Heck, sorry you've been poorly :(

For me, I've never experienced a stomach bug since I've started running, not sure if that's a coincidence! I used to be really susceptible to them. I would have thought though, be careful. Bear in mind you need to take on plenty of fuel the day before to run well, and if your stomach is still feeling dodgy, you may not be able to do that. Hopefully you will have rehydrated by the run.

Get well soon!

As this will be your first 10k race, whatever time you get will be a PB. So take it steady and enjoy your day
