What a Great Result - and Parkrun wasn't bad either!

The "great result" is Accrington Stanley 5 Plymouth 1 :-) , and thus securing League 1 football for another season having tried very hard to throw it away over the last few months! We meet again next year Millsie-J :-)

And the not bad Parkrun was going sub-25 and a PB (by both watch time and official Parkrun time AlMorr :-) ) at Portsmouth Lakeside, our second local option, chosen to avoid doing the last 2.5k along Southsea prom into the teeth of a 40+ mph westerly. Still windy, but sheltered by woods and some buildings.

The trouble is, I'm horribly superstitious about my footy, and the 3 games out of their last 4 that Stanley have won to pull themselves out of the mire coincide with days when I've run sub-25 Parkruns (today and a fortnight ago) and a sub-55 10k (this Tuesday). Last Saturday I did a volunteer stint, and they got hammered :-( . So it looks like I'm committed to trying for a sub-25 Parkrun every Saturday next season - and it doesn't bode well for watching their last game of the season down here in Pompey next Saturday, when I'm volunteering again before a trip down to Bristol with Dexy5 to meet up with cheekychipmunks again and do the Great Bristol 10k.

It's a funny old game …. :-)

It’s a good job I didn’t do a PB then, no pressure.

Well done to Accrington Stanley! Bet you’re pleased UTS. My hubby supports Man Utd ........ ⚽️😫⚽️

Looking forward to catching up with you both again next weekend. 🏃‍♀️🏃🏃‍♀️😀

Good result for your team and yourself, that's quite a challenge for you to run a sub 25 or sub 55 minutes 5K or 10K respectively next season, I am sure both your team and you will manage that.

Huge congratulations on all fronts... you can volunteer all summer and run longs and tempos after so that you’re ready to ensure Stanley don’t lose at all next season!

Port Vale 0 Macc 1... my other team is hopefully not seeing you next season 😂

Fingers crossed for The Silkmen! But it could be a sad chapter for Notts County...

Could be... maybe Juve will change their kit if Notts County go out of the league! Macc have been the masters at losing from winning positions this season, they need to go 5 up to convince me they won’t lose 😂

Football superstitions are so funny. My ex never used to wash his match wearing clothes if his team won. They had a good run once and by Christmas he stunk! Luckily it wasn’t generally a problem

Nice one Upthe!

B Albion took on league top Luton yesterday ..... and we won 2:1.

If you ever decide to come watch AS when they visit here let me know, we could catch up! Of course the Albion will likely win but you could do the Conkers PR and aim for a Sub 25 to help AS out 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Sounds like your running is going great 👍🏼

Congratulations on your Parkrun and 10K times. I’d love to go sub 25 one day. I’m at 26:30 as a PB, obviously for 5K and not 10K 😀.

I’ve nothing to add to football, I haven’t a clue, football and F1 are coma inducing to me. But delighted your team are doing well.

Congratulations on both your results. I am afraid we chickened out of the major south westerly impacting Southsea parkrun, much better weather conditions were available today!

Congratulations on the PB and survival. Don’t know much about footy but Lincoln City have just done the double and will be in League 1 next season. Up the Imps 😂 Serious FOMO re Bristol 10k but off to our place in the midst of the Bergerac vineyards on Tuesday, so I guess I’m not really in a position to complain 😃
