I've had such an amazing couple of parkruns... last week was my first ever running meet and this week I convinced my neighbour to come along with me and we both achieved PBs (I took 5 minutes off my time!!!).
As I love parkrun so much, I'm setting off on a grand tour of the 24 parkruns that are within easy distance of where I live (South Manchester). I'll be touring on the first weekend of each and every month.
If any of you lovely runny folk would like to join me for any of these, I'd love to meet as many of you as possible. And if you're new to parkrun and just want a friendly face, even better! The plan isn't to run together... we each have our own pace and set of challenges. But it's just lovely to meet people, spark up new friendships and perhaps enjoy a bit of coffee afterwards.
You'll get the Tourism bug, like me. Did I mention that I did my 20th different parkrun last week at Hereford? I have ordered my Cow-cowl, hopefully it will be here by Saturday.
That one's in there as a "line in the sand"... might walk more of it than I run. I'd originally got that one higher up the list but moved it back 3 months based on several people's reactions!
First thing I noticed Dexy5 I have walked the Lyme Park route - it took just over an hour, but I doubt that I will run it much quicker Although we both had coughs and colds that day, so maybe I could shave a few minutes off the time.
Wow! You really do like spreadsheets don’t you 😁 What a great thing to do! I can see LYME PARK shouting at me from the September entry, so it’s got to be done 👍👍
Congratulations on your PB today, 5 minutes? That’s amazing Ian! Well done 👍
Must be the day for it as Katnap and I both got PBs as well (it’s this beautiful weather I think) - we’ve been winding Youngest Kitten up as we’re both faster than him now...that’ll give him some motivation for our next family run 😁
Wouldn’t it be extra lumpy though? I found the mole hills and cracks/holes the biggest hazard last week. We don’t get very much mud as most of it is on tarmac, our problem is usually varying amounts of swan and geese 💩!
Good idea for Lyme Park, hopefully it will be the perfect time of year - not hot, not too wet, not too dry, just too hilly (not a lot we can do about that) 👍👍
Those molehills are a relatively new addition to our parkrun. But some of them have been trampled flat by the time some of us get to them Sorry that we missed your visit @Tailchaser , we were at Ashton Court, which was a bit hilly for me, but a very nice parkrun nevertheless.
Yes, there did seem to be less of them on the second lap! Never quite sure how stable or solid they are so I thought best to avoid. I have a feeling we’ll be up again at some point in the not too distant future, so hopefully meet you then Sue 👍
Good Lord Ian, that is an impressive plan and spread sheet. I will try and drop in on some of them when I can. I might even let you know in advance or perhaps just surprise you.
What a lovely idea! Sadly I am too far away on the South Coast but next time I'm up visiting my brother at Northenden if it falls on the first Saturday of the month I'll be in touch! Enjoy your parkrun tourism 😊
Wahoo. What a great idea. 🎉 Too far from the south coast for a realistic plan for me, but I shall admire your achievement from afar. Will we get reports? Pics? Group pics would be very exciting .... just a thought! 👏🏼
