Sorry Marie Kondo I couldn’t find one “spark of joy” packing, its still in the too hard basket The last 8 weeks, which has flown by has been amazing, starting from the moment we arrived at Heathrow. Special thanks to Baddiethepirate, Runningroni, Runaroundsue, Mr Runaroundsue, Sandie1961, Dexy5 and UptheStanley VRB’s no longer but real RB’s now. To all of the volunteers who make these runs possible and fun and to this forum what a fab bunch you are, thank you. Baddie, Dexy and UTS have already posted about Wilmslow, way better than I could, so I have nothing to add but a lovely photo Dexy5 took after breakfast, as we passed the nearby church, on our way back to our cars. Dropped Baddiethepirate back at her boat and what a very fine one it is.
Our holiday was over too soon but Mr Lexi6 has downloaded the C25 app, so there’s hope for some joint running adventures in the future. To my Uncle Nev who I saw after our Ireland trip last Friday afternoon, who told me to take care and have a safe trip and I wished him the same, passed away on Saturday morning 💔 How lucky to have made it to see him one more time. We leave here Friday night and arrive back Sunday afternoon so Sundays in NZ will once again be my favourite time to catch up with HU. I’d really like to do this again next year 🤞 Happy running everyone. 🥰 xx

It was such a pleasure to meet you and I am so glad that your UK running buddies managed to give you what will hopefully be many happy memories. I am so sorry to hear about your uncle but pleased you managed to see him before he passed away. I hope you’ve got lots of new material for your family history search! Have a safe journey back to NZ (hopefully without delays this time!) and I look forward to keeping in touch via the forum. Here’s to Giant’s Causeway 2020 🤞🏻
And you too Sandie, this trip will remain with me forever and also the loads of new contacts for more research on our family history. I have hopefully a leisurely drive down to Heathrow tomorrow (gave Mr Lexi my cold oops) and GC 2020 already on the calendar x
Thanks cheeky, I feel so lucky I got to see him one more time. Checked our NZ temperatures and its slowly warming up and Joy! we arrive home on the day daylight saving starts. Got a lot of k’s to catch up so better get started on some Strava challenges asap. 🙂
Thank you Bluebirdrunner, the visit has been wonderful, the highlight will always be the parkruns with forum buddies. I was so glad to be able to see and talk to my uncle to say goodbye and glad I wasn’t far away in NZ. Mr Lexi will be soon be overtaking me (his legs are longer 😂) but meanwhile it will be good practice for doing intervals with him which I’ve been putting off starting. I hope your 10km race goes well and I can’t wait to read your report on Sunday. 😀👍⭐️ Xxx
Thank you Franglaise, it was an amazing trip and the highlight will always be running the parkruns with amazing, lovely people. I’m so grateful to have said goodbye to my uncle, its softened the blow a little.
Thanks Dexy and it was so lovely to meet you and UTS, all the way from Southsea too. I hope to get back and do Wilmslow again one day and take a few minutes off that time. Will be getting plenty of practice trying to keep up with Mr Lexi once he graduates. 👍🙂
Its been so nice reading your posts while you have been on holiday in Europe, especially the ones when you were here in the UK, I am sure you have enjoyed your holiday and meeting some of the people who you ran with, particularly on the Saturday morning park runs. You will, of course, be a bit sad at leaving the UK on Friday but you will be looking forward to getting home and meeting your dogs in New Zealand, I hope they will recognise you after being away for over two months, I wish you Bon Voyage for your long flight back.
I am an early riser, so when you report on your parkrun in New Zealand I am probably one of the first persons to see it and of course, I always reply back to you, once again happy journey home.
Thank you so much Alan. I’ve had a wonderful time at the parkruns and meeting in person some VRB’s and its going to be a real wrench leaving tomorrow. Apart from the people I shall miss the countryside, the beautiful parks, all the trees and the gorgeous old buildings. It will be great to see the dogs again, although I suspect one of them may prove to be a little snooty after being left for so long 😂 It will be great to again be able to read everyone’s reports. I’ve spent little time on here lately, seems I’ve either been sitting in a car driving somewhere, or staying nowhere near wifi. I always appreciate the time you take to personally reply. You are an inspiration Awesome Al. 👍⭐️
Thanks alison, can’t believe how fast its has gone, but it has been amazing and although sad about my uncle, feel so glad to have been able to say goodbye to him xx
