Well another glorious morning for the Southsea (not)Parkrun crew of Dexy5 , UpTheStanley, Coddfish and Mr C,
and yours truly. Hot, sunny and rather energy-sapping for those on a mission. For me, well I just plodded on to an OldGirlRuns 48:40 which is ok by me. Coddfish did an energy sapping 3k before stopping at a conveniently placed seat and unfortunately Dexy5’s heel wasn’t very happy so she sensibly decided not to run - we found them sitting chatting in the sunshine when we puffed our way to our finish point, well I was puffing anyway! And, of course, as no (not)Parkrun would be complete without food, we repaired straightaway to our nearest cafe to sit outside by the beach for big breakfast eats! Sounds like another lovely outing for the OldGirlRuns' crew. It looks like that might be the last of the notPRs. Is actual Park Run starting up again down your way?
Yes, you’re right on both counts. Although it’s busier here now during the week because of the holidays.
(Not)parkrun is proving too popular to stop now I think. I don’t know about yours Dexy but our sports club athletes don’t seem to bother too much which is good for us lesser mortals to see our names a bit higher up the board.
Yes we’ve got 33 runners so it’s very (not) elite.
The heel is not good I think it’s Achilles tendinitis so I am going to give running a rest again for a week or so. Physio 5 August. Lots of possible causes - running in neutral trails, wearing flat normal shoes, high shoes, increasing speed because of (not) parkrun and then 12.6 k walking round Kew Gardens yesterday. I started running but not at all comfortable today so didn’t want to make a bad situation worse. Damn damn damn. No bridge for me this week.
Oh blimey Dexy! I suppose it’s all from not doing it for a while and being a bit enthusiastic. Apparently lots of heel raises to strengthen calf muscles - mines been playing up too 🙄 You’ll get there - just think how frustrating it would be if parkrun was actually on!
Yes I started really carefully and did great getting up to 5k over a long period, but I had concentrated on the exercises for my injury so the calves missed out a bit and haven’t caught up with the rest of me. Also, all my summer Sandals seem to have a strap on the Achilles. My 5k pace is nowhere near pre-injury but I have been a bit more competitive with (not) Parkrun. I think resting for a few days will help before exercising.
That’s so lovely to read, it was very hot out there this morning, my short fast run turned into a long very slow plod, i would have arrived a minute behind you just in time for the tea to be served
Lovely read as usual glad you could all get together and run
Brilliant OGR! What a lovely Tuesday tradition you’ve created - think it’ll carry on when real PR returns? 🏃♀️🏃♂️🏃♀️🏃♂️
Yes it was warm wasn’t it? I was out by 7am and it felt fresh when I left the house, but there was zero wind so it was warm running, even then. A gorgeous morning though, and not so humid. 🏃♀️
I think the others are trying to keep me confused cheeky - we’ve changed the day to Monday next week and last week it was Thursday! Don’t know about continuing when Parkrun proper restarts - but we usually went for brekky after that anyway so I guess we’re just carrying on as normal!
Thanks for posting OGR, I managed a quite respectable 24’35” after a bit of a struggle against the breeze on the outward leg. But kept the rest of you waiting for me unfortunately 😀
I enjoyed my not (not) parkrun today, and enjoyed the breakfast and sit with the view even more. 3K was perfect for my 3rd trip of the week, I rarely cope well running more than twice a week.
Wow, how come its Tuesday again already? Another great run and meet-up for you all again today. I must find a local cafe and some running buddies, this sounds fun. Porridge at home with hubby after our runs is getting a bit repetitive 🤣 happy running everyone 🤗
I’ve just worked out that since we entered lockdown I’ve had 1 carry out panini 🤨 how did that happen. I’ve had numerous friends and family round for garden coffee and lunches but it’s so far been 1 way - oh yes, that’s because we’re the ones who have just moved to new house. However it doesn’t explain why I haven’t been out to eat myself hmmm🤨
Well done guys! (Not) parkrun will be tomorrow for me... no sunshine, no beachfront benches to get my breath back, and no lovely cafe... not that I’m jealous 🤣🤣🤣
A very happy looking bunch 😃 It was my 2 year park runniversary yesterday according to the email I received. I could have been at 50 without lockdown but am stuck on 36 😢 I didn’t go for a run, but am meeting up with Shake-and-run at 7.30am tomorrow to run round our local lake before it gets too hot. I don’t think there’ll be anywhere open for brekkie at that time though!
