This is a non-running post but I hope you’ll forgive me! As promised, I’d appointed myself Cheerleader-in-chief for today’s Great South Run so waved off @UpTheStanley, @Katnap,@Tailchaser, @Dexy5,@Cheekychipmunks,@Sandie1969, and @DavidG as they headed out on their 10 Mile journey this morning. The way the race was organised in waves meant runners were COVID safe but had the disadvantage that it took a long time - so much so that Katnap had finished before I could wave Dexy and the gang off and I had to run to get down to the finish line to cheer UTS in at the end of his race! I then trotted over to another spot which gave me a good view of runners as they came passed and I was soon joined by UTS and Katnap. Much cheering and clapping as Tailchaser, Sandie, Dexy, and Cheekychipmunks passed us. By that time the sun was out and it was glorious - and hot ! So huge well done to everyone running in the heat! Then back over to the final run in to shout and jingle bells loudly as our intrepid runners finished! My hands are now red and sore from all the clapping but it was worth it! We’d all had a meet up last night, including Coddfish and MrC who were also out on the course today cheering on our runners and I have to tell you it’s been a fantastic weekend! Well done runners all!
I counted them all out and I counted them al... - Bridge to 10K
I counted them all out and I counted them all back!
You were brilliant OGR, it was so wonderful seeing you on the course a couple of times cheering and clapping!
Oh, I’m not vain, honestly, but I really wish I’d taken off my hydration belt and number before putting the GSR teeshirt on - I look like a total heifer! 😂😂😂
You aren’t on your own Cheeky, I didn’t think about my flipbelt until the photo with David. If we looked too pristine no one would believe we ran 10 miles.
Those jingle bells and clapping from you cheering all the runners at The Great South Run were so loud that I could hear them where I live in Scotland,, lol, at least all the runners heard them, congratulations on supporting all the runners this morning. 😊 🏃🏾
What a lovely post to hear the race from the perspective of someone who wasn’t running it, maybe next year you will run it 😃
Well done OGR! Top class cheerleading xx
Having marshalled at parkrun on Saturday, you’d got lots of practice in Oldgirlruns . You were amazing , trying to cover such a wide range of timings. It was a real boost to see friends in the cheering crowds. Let’s hope you can start running again soon and we’ll be there to cheer you on.
Thank you for your wonderful support OGR. An integral member of the team xx
They also serve who only stand and cheer! So nice to share it, thank you.
It’s people like you who create the brilliant atmosphere at these events OG, so go you!! 🤗
Your support was much appreciated OGR!👏
