We got home from our travels last Thursday after a 4am start. On Friday I woke just after 7am and my first thought was 'Gotta run today!' I didn't want to wait too long before putting my new trainers back on and getting out into the fields :)

We managed a gentle 3km on our usual route, slow and steady. It felt great. Gentle sun and a pleasant breeze, perfect.

The weekend was a blur of socialising and catching up with family in London, another late night lol. On Monday morning I didn't wake until 8 and was going to go back to sleep but Mr Y suggested a run. Couldn't argue, I knew I needed it. Decided to do a Mindfulness run on the NRC app so chose the 'Stress Free Run'. Great choice. I didn't listen to any music as it can feel a bit antisocial when you're running with someone but instead concentrated on our surroundings.

When I woke up I'd heard the wind blowing hard outside but once out on the paths it was just invigorating, bashing at my bare arms and legs and generally increasing an already strong sense of wellbeing. Although I wasn't pushing myself my pace was a whole second per km faster than on Friday. Ooh, my fitness must be increasing!! That nice Mr Garmin has knocked 16 years off my age and my VO2 is now in the blue 'excellent' zone :) (part of my decision to run slow was to improve this.

So yes, I am back. Won't be around for long, just a few weeks before we set off again all being well so I am absolutely making the most of it for now :)

Thanks, from now on it's about getting back into the routine of regular runs, mind you tomorrow's forecast is 45+mph winds all day so next run may have to wait until Thursday :)

Thanks, it feels things will be going in the right direction for a couple of weeks, then it'll be back to walks and eating too much lol

Howling wind and a bit of rain this morning. I looked at it and thought 'My lovely new bright orange trainers aren't going anywhere near that!!' 😂
