Iβd planned on doing a gentle 5k today, having volunteered at PR yesterday and done JogRunSprint on Thursday. I have a 10k planned for Tuesday - then countdown to my 10 mile attempt on the 11th. All good? Youβd think so wouldnβt you.
We went out for a delightful Japanese meal last night and we were in the restaurant for about 3 hours. I ate delicious food and had 2 halves of refreshing beer over the whole evening as I was driving. And the point is? I hear you say .... π π€
Got up from the table and inner part of my left knee felt tight. We walked back to the car and it was mildly uncomfortable. It was fine walking to the restaurant.
This morning I can still feel the niggle, only just, but itβs there. I wanted to run today, but Iβm now wondering if I should. I would cry if I jeopardised my runniversary run. βΉοΈ
Am I the only person to pick up a Japanese meal induced injury? Was it the way I was sitting? I was in flat sandals, and definitely hadnβt tripped or anything. Gentle dog walk for me today I think. Hmph.
Again, no real point to this post, and yet again Iβve gone on a bit, but Iβm miffed and wanted to tell someone. My family glaze over in advance of me talking nowadays - they already know the subject! π π
Happy Sunday everyone. β€οΈ

My first thought was surely you havenβt been running already? Itβs 06:58! Weβre off to Twickenham, would never be up otherwise.
Just take it easy today cheekychipmunks and see how this settles. Like you say it could be just from sitting strangely. I am sure it will settle soon . Says she who knows nothing but wishing to show sympathy with unglazed eyes .
Aww thanks for not glazing over Dexy! Means a lot! π
Iβll potter out with the dog in a while and see how it feels. I was thinking of wearing trail shoes just in case (π), but I wonβt. Iβll be good. π
Rest it today and try not to worry. Itβs already better than it was last night so Iβm sure itβs on the mend. Good luck for your Runniversary Run πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ
Youβre right jayval, the fact that itβs already feeling better is a plus. Probably a trapped nerve or something silly, but Iβll definitely rest up today. The 10 miler is too important to me to jeopardise it. πββοΈπββοΈ
Thanks Jell, wise words as ever. Youβre right, even if my knee feels better, I think Iβll forego the 10k run this week, and stick to short gentle ones. The 10 miler is too important to me, and I dearly want to run it on the runniversary itself, which is June 11th. π€πββοΈ
I think itβs common amongst runnersβ families - unless of course they happen to be runners too! π My husband runs, but itβs part of his rowing fitness training, so not the main focus. π£πΏββοΈ π
Ok so we now know you are not going out the night before Runniversary in June. Rest well Cheeky this week and take it easy before the big day.... so excited for you. Am sure that niggle will calm with a bit of TLC this week π
Sounds a perfect plan. So. Have you see runfestrun? Am so excited !!!!!! I need this in my life... itβs my goal for next year to get there ππΌββοΈπ
Iβve decided to take it easy this week Baddie. I didnβt need to do a 10k this week, I just felt like it (what?!? π³), but Iβll ditch that idea now, and try a gentle short run mid-week, then hopefully to PR next Saturday. Thatβll be it before the big day on the 11th! π€π€π
No Iβm sure itβs nothing big Deals. π€ Probably a trapped nerve. Itβs feeling better now, just the faintest little twinge every now and then. Iβll be treating my body with kid gloves up until runniversary day, believe me! π
Youβre right Katnap. A few days of gentle dog walks will help me and please her! My knee has until the 11th to get better. Iβm sure it will! ππββοΈπ€
Sorry to hear this Cheeky, bodies are strangely unpredictable aren't they? Sounds like you're doing everything right and hopefully you'll be running again next week.π
I'm properly on the I.C for a while, with a v painful leg and diagnosed tendon injury. I've rested and iced it as much as possible this week, fortunately I'm on a Greek island most of the next two weeks and won't miss running too much..
Hoping to celebrate my runniversary when I get back. π
A Greek island sounds like a lovely place to be on the IC, CH! I hope the break will do you good and you can resume gentle running on your return? Do you have any runniversary plans?
I can already feel mineβs better even after 1 day off. Iβll try a gentle trot out on Wednesday and see how it feels then. π€
Oh that's good news, enjoy the gentle run on Weds and fingers crossed for the leg.
My runniversary plan is being able to walk pain free π, I'm such an idiot, even had to take time off work due to being in agony. Going to book a physio apt for when I get back as I've consistently had problems with that leg for months. It's a shame as I had planned to do some short holiday runs. π’
Itβs so hard to know when to stop isnβt it? Iβm certain, if I wasnβt so focussed on the 10 miler, Iβd have run this morning, and quite possibly ended up properly on the IC. Pre-running days I wouldnβt have given these twinges a 2nd thought!
Hereβs hoping you recover fully and quickly. Enjoy your holiday! βοΈ π
Thanks Jonathan, Iβm pretty sure it was caused by sitting for too long, probably with my legs crossed! Iβll wait until mid-week though, just to be sure. π
Thanks Bridget, yes itβs fine now Iβm relieved to say. Did my first run - a lovely 5k - this morning and it didnβt hurt at all. Must have been a trapped nerve Iβm guessing. Thanks for your concern! ππ
Hey Cheeky! Thatβs great news. Iβm glad youβre ok.
Friday is supposed to be my run day this week. I was out today for Global Run Dayπ. I did just check the weather and we have rain forecast for Friday and Saturday. Iβm not keen on running in the rain, so Iβd say probably not to Parkrun. π₯΄
Hey no worries Fab. Iβm on hols the next 2 Saturdays, but let me know when youβre up for me coming to visit your PR some time during the summer! πβ€οΈ Enjoy your run on Friday! πππ
