I didnβt manage to check in after my very wet Sunday run, I had to take my son to his rugby game and later a birthday meal, so getting in a run was quite a genius very early morning act!
After a run in the dark with my iPhone torch last week, I ordered a head torch, which by a stroke of luck came today. I had planned to run in the morning, but work delayed my departure with a promised phone call that kept on promising! And when late afternoon came and I thought Iβm going, itβs lunch time after all.....guess what? π€¨ Oh....we can speak now! π΅π€
I didnβt really want to go out this evening so after some obligatory faffing with the head torch to find the right size batteries and figure out how to switch it on and stuff and armed with my new head gadget, I went out looking like a miner and did my run in the dark!! I was in the little park and it was a bit lonesome, so not totally comfortable, but it was enjoyable! Better than the phone torch too!! π
My playlist was on point and I kept a pretty nifty pace!! My goodness, I surprised myself afterwards. π±! Iβm getting faster naturally π―. Maybe it was the music πΆ, maybe the darkness, but I wasnβt tempted to carry on though. π 3k was the run in my programme and I stopped at 3k π βπ½ and went straight on to the short walk home. Iβm pleased about todayβs little adventure! Iβm sure theyβll be more to come! π¬ but for now, Iβm ready to eat!!
I got one made by Tresspass! Bought it on ebay for Β£5 something. Does the trick nicely southlundon. Even as a bit of a warning beacon for others!! Coming through!! ππΎββοΈππΎββοΈWasnβt required today though! Just me and the dark in the park! πβ€οΈ
I know what you mean Beanjo! Just experimenting and I planned to go straight home if it was a bit too unnerving. Wasnβt too bad and if Iβd run on the roadside, I reckon it would have been perfect. ππ½β€οΈ
Thanks BTP!! Trying to put some energy and adventure into the winter regime. A bit like starting the running experience, thereβs a lot I would normally dismiss, but Iβm giving it a go first. πβ€οΈ
Sounds like you had fun fab...it can be a little lonesome running in the dark, I wouldnβt run in this park, Iβd stick to the main road...glad you got home safe & sound...π
Hi Mummycav!! Thank you. Yes. I think youβre right! I just thought Iβd look a sight with the headtorch on, but Iβll cope. βOut there, donβt careβ! The mantra continues!! πβ€οΈ
Well done you! Iβm avoiding running in the dark and have no excuses as the dog wouldnβt care and Iβm a bloomin Scout leader so we have loads of head torches!!!
Thank you Mandi! π€ Ooh you have a stash!! π¦ π¦ π¦ ππ
Run in the dark is definetly option B for me too!! But option A is usually sort of βooh donβt run now, itβs darkβ. I hope an option C, lunchtime running may arise, but not holding out much hope of that. π!! Option B, as required it is!!
Hey it will be summer again soon wonβt it? ππ½ππ½β€οΈ
Yeah MandiV, I already faff and Iβve tried lunchtime gym sessions many many years ago when it was the new gym age. (Ok many, many, many.....think Jane Fonda, the Green Goddess and Mr Motivator π€£) and lunchtime just didnβt work for me.
You never know, we might just get better at it. π€₯πβ€οΈ
Thanks for sharing this- me and the running buddy went and did a dark early morning run yesterday! We went round our little park at the end of the road. She barked at everything that made a noise- she doesnβt normally bark so that was actually quite reassuring!! I couldnβt find head torch or knee support without waking DH and I hadnβt prepared as it was a spur of the moment thing! So I tiptoed about and scurried off and had a lovely run! Thanks for sharing your experience cos it got me out!!
Well done Fab - looks like you are doing great. Keep it up. Work can be a real pain getting in the way sometimes π€ - trying to fit my Wednesday runs in is a bit of a pain. Starting to think about doing it in the evening switching from morning.
Thanks Richard!! Yes, definitely more challenging in the winter!! Darkness doesnβt tempt me quite so much! π! But itβs a season, so I hope to get used to it......or it will pass eventually!! πβ€οΈ
Hey nothing wrong with that pace, also massive kudos that you actually went out and ran in the dark. I dislike running in the dark as I'm always scared some youths are going to jump out and scare me lol!
Certainly does!! Too busy with awareness of surroundings!! π π¦ I definitely wouldnβt add rain to that mix!! πβ€οΈ
Brilliant run Fabulous and your pace was great.ππ I havenβt ran in the dark yet. I think Iβll have to try that one sometime. It would have to be in darkness of the mornings as I donβt do running in the evening. Iβm to snuggly and cosy indoors and too lazy to move thenπ€£π€£π€£
