For they shall not be bent out of shape. (Go gentle on me plankathon ๐) Iโd planned to walk to the Rangituhi summit last week, but the weather has just been rubbish, blowing a gale every day, so plans adjusted. I finished off my runs for last week with a parkrun, because Iโd really wanted a PB (7 months since my last) to give me a bit of confidence before my 10k race but the one timekeeper mixed up my time with the runner behind me, not that Iโm complaining because theyโre wonderful volunteers and this year our parkrun has loads of new runners to contend with (50 kids there today and first runner in was a girl in the 11-14 age group) Wow! so thereโs always a queue in the finishersโ chute now.
I just had to go back today and try again, I know its a run not a race - right? ๐ Two timekeepers today and time on my watch matched exactly, so a PB by 52 seconds at 36.33 and 70 finishers after me! My first parkrun, 23 runs ago took me 52 minutes, I got lost and even the tailwalker finished before me ๐๐ I almost get to the 2km mark these days before the lead bike and first runners zoom past for home! Got the parkrun photos down pat now, (no end of advice on this fab forum, even on how to pose for photos) so got the hang of the smile, wave and flying foot going to try for 2 flying feet next parkrun photo. Anyway, 3 gentle runs next week and fingers crossed for a breeze not gusts on race day.
Yesterday, took a drive round the course and took some photos, the photo bottom left is about the 5k point, you canโt see the house but you can just make out the broken fence on what was once their path just above the garage, now replaced by their very own cable car. Have a wonderful week everyone. ๐ x
