Conquered THE hill!

On my running trail route, there’s several hills, some short and steep, others long gradual inclines but there’s a long (1.5k) quite steep hill at 3.5k to 5k point. Today I summited it, yay! Previously I’ve turned back half way up it but today to the top and started on down the other side but then turned around. I’d like to say to enjoy the down hill but whilst there’s less puff required I find the downhill on loose surface tricky for different reasons and am mindful to moderate my speed to reduce impact. Anyway, great to beat the hill. So a neat 10k done on my gorgeous route. Not fast (1h 17m), but good enough for me.

Returned home for a glorious Epsom salt soak in the bath 🛁 coffee ☕️ and a tiny (ish!!) cake 🧁 .

💕🏃‍♀️

Amazing! 10k with a monster hill is nothing to be sneezed at! Very well done you. 👏👏

Aren’t trail runs fabulous? 😍

I do love the trails too and am not unduly phased so much now by most short uphills but unrelenting steepness is very tough still. I can’t believe though how much more mental determination I have now than ever before. All thanks to C25k.

Brilliant! And downhill is not easy on loose surfaces!

It’s in the north part of the Lake District. Very lovely indeed.

Very similar then! I had a lovely 4.5k beside Coniston on Saturday. Absolutely beautiful part of Lakeland. Loved it.

Whoohoo! Way to conquer that hill 💪!!!! You rock! I find the downhill tricky as well and am hoping to get better on not lumbering down like an elephant or going so painfully slow like a scaredy cat. We must embrace our inner mountain goat 😁

Indeed, you summed up my down hill run. Look out mountain goats, we’re coming!

I don’t know who invented hills but they are tough SOBs. Well done and give those legs a good soaking 🏔🏃🏻‍♂️

Oh that's view is lovely :D

Well done! It feels so good to get over the hump :)

The first 4k of my 10 k rout is pretty much all uphill (the odd flattish bit) There is a very steep bit I still need to walk at around 3kish (I did run it all once when it was snowy and icy as I was going so slow not to fall over :P) So I know I can run it, I'm just faster walking with a wide stride! On my run today It actually felt wired to get to the top, I'm so used to running 'up' that it feels odd at the top.

Wow! 4K up is a lot. But it’s been a lovely day for running and glad you had a fab run too.

Congratulations - my uphill stretch is right at the end of my 10k route but I don't think it's as steep as that! ⛰️

Looks gorgeous Dowat. I grew up in Penrith and still miss the fells since we moved to Lincolnshire in 2001. Not sure I could run up and down them! I am planning on doing Keswick parkrun at the end of June on a visit to the parents though!

Yes something of a contrast between Penrith and Lincs! The hills I tell myself will do me good!! Hope you have a good park run in Keswick, hopefully some decent weather for it.
