I haven't posted for a while but I've been reading the posts and my running is going well.
I've been persuaded to sign up for the great west half marathon in October and then the Women Can half marathon next month!
I've upped the training over the last few weeks and I've adapted to calculating in miles which took a bit of adjustment. π
My current training plan is 3 x 4 mile runs which I'm really enjoying and then increasing my long run by a mile a week.
Today I was excited about running 10 miles for the first time, but also worried I may not manage it. I had a tasty smoothie before I went which seemed to give me some fantastic initial energy and the legs felt good.
The weather was beautiful when I set out but changed every fifteen minutes or so, I think I counted four showers from light to heavy and I was drenched but refreshed! I'm experimenting with getting the fuel right and had a gel after four miles that seemed to work with only some mild stomach discomfort later. My long run along the river was a lot quieter than in the beautiful weather of last week and the other runners and cyclists I passed shared a knowing smile as we passed in the unpredictable weather.
I'm so thrilled to have run so far and with my warm up and cool down walk I was exercising for nearly two hours which seems crazy!
Plus, no one warns you that once you start running for over an hour and a half you want to eat everything in the world πββοΈπ€£

Sometimes when I read a post, I go back and read some earlier ones to remind myself of the journey to this point. I wonder if many others do this? Any way here is a quote from a reply of yours after your first post as you and cheekychipmunks were comparing notes about what was coming up ,"This time next week we'll be running for five minutes, eek!"
