Parkrun today and my first run for two weeks due to a recurrence of my left Achillies problem. I used the Portsmouth lakeside run as it is a flat course and I planned a nice steady run, thankfully all seems ok with only slight discomfort at the start. Pleased with my time of 27:03 for the 3.1 miles at a pace of 8.46 per mile. Tomorrow I will start training for the Great South run in earnest following their training plan. I've got to admit I've been a right grumpy guts lately not going out, funny how things change so quickly, I'm sitting writing this post as bright as a button. Happy days, have a great weekend all! ๐
First run for two weeks.: Parkrun today and my... - Bridge to 10K
First run for two weeks.
That's good news Frank!we like you feeling bright as a button!๐
27:03 after a period of injury Frank? That is very impressive, and I am very jealous! Glad things are back on track today. Good luck with your GSR training ๐!
GSR gang Sandra!!! ๐
Am putting my entry in when I get paid in about 10 days! My sister is also going to do it ( far better runner than me๐ฎ) which will be great support for me. I am excited and petrified in equal measures! Me? Run 10 miles? Ha ha ha!!๐ฎ What am I thinking Ali? ...this is going to require a lot of positive self-talk on my part! (And a fair amount of physical effort!)๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป
you'll be fine Sandra! i have 100% faith in you!!
Course you'll be fine ! You're doing the training, you can already do 10k easily and when have you not achieved anything in running that you really put your mind to?
That's great news, you'll thoroughly enjoy it. It'll be C25K out in force!
Ah that's good news Frank , the Racing Snake is back !
These niggly injuries are a right pain in the wotsit aren't they ?
Looks like C25k will be out in full strength for Portsmouth , it will be lovely for you all to meet up again and with Sandraj39 as well - Fab !
Have a cuppa tea for me ( and a big slice of cake ! ) xxx
I've been a right misery guts, but the smiles back now! ๐ It will be great and I think I will do the extra cuppa justice! Hope your training going well for you, have a great weekend! xxx ๐
That's a fab time Frank! Go you! And I just can't imagine you as a grumpy guts. Did someone tell you that? ๐
I was wondering where you were and hoping it wasn't a recurrence of your injury. Glad to hear it's getting better, take it easy and do your calf raises!
Thanks Sarah, slow but sure I think!
Mine is the right Achilles, we could always do a three-legged run...
Ha ha, we'll probably end up going round in circles! ๐ How's your achillies these days?
It's fine, so far, touch wood! I've been working on my technique, smaller steps at a faster cadence, and concentrating on picking up my feet - seems to be working for me, with an unexpected increase in pace. It's hard on the stamina though...It's hot here, so I've been doing shorter distances, really missing a long run!
yes we'd go round in circles, you're a lot faster than me! xx
I think I might give your technique a try, anything that can keep it in check will good. Good to hear your problem ok! Sounds like your weather is better than ours, it's very changeable here. ๐
Well done Frank, good to hear your Achilles is behaving now
Good to hear you're back out there! Makes us right grumps doesn't it when we can't run
Good luck with your training. Take it steady!
