The road to 10k is tough....

I’m following the Magic 10 and have decided to tackle it a bit like the C25K plan, a run is only successfully completed if you manage it without stopping (apart from crossing the road). Although I am incredibly proud of myself to have managed to do 7k today, I think I will repeat this one before adding another 1k as I did to walk a bit this time. It was a new route with a funny surface, a very hot day, and a long way, so i’m not disappointed in myself for not being able to do it in one, but I think I need to repeat this distance before I try to move on. Anyway, it’s not a race, I’ll get there eventually 🏃‍♀️🐌

Sounds good - whatever makes you feel confident is right, I’m sure. But do be proud of that 7K! Splendid effort and should be celebrated! 🎉👏🏼🎉 You’re quicker and stronger than my tortoise pace. 🐢😄

Well done on your 7km. You do what’s right for you. This is your journey to 10km :)

Just take your time and do it as you want E27M14. You can take as long as you want to get to 10k. Every run you do is preparing you for the next one. I must confess I paused my run for a quick wild pee during my run.

Is there a reason why you are measuring it in miles instead of kms?

Just struggling with the technology 😂 My watch is set to show me distance in km but pace in min/mile because I started out with miles and so I know what my happy pace is in min/mile!! Haven’t quite managed to get this to transfer to the app though!!

Is it a Garmin? A few of us had a problem with one showing imperial and the other in metric. I think it was resolved by connecting the watch to the pc and switching them both to imperial and then back to metric. If that doesn’t work, customer services will help. I hear they are very good.

Wow well done! Sounds wise, I am also thinking I need to consolidate the longer runs more before adding an extra 1km to them. Maybe will just do a 0.5km increment.

Here’s a link on how to change the settings on your watch..... youtu.be/dX3YgWfpig4

Thanks. I’ve tried that but the problem is I’m a mixed up 70’s kid so I don’t want everything in metric 😂 The watch has the ability to give me distance in km but pace in miles. If I change the app to metric it changes everything. I also don’t want to weigh myself in kilos! That means nothing to me!

Always puzzles me - I was born early 60s and can't understand why anyone born after me and educated in the UK is still working in imperial.

Sounds like your doing great. 8min 5s per K at this stage is great. Your well on your way!!

Well done. It is tough, but very satisfying when you achieve the longer distances. I did it last year and did graduate, but have always struggled with the longer distances so trying again. I'd like to say it's easier second time round, but not really!

enjoy the challenge! 😊

That’s a great run. You’re well on your way to 10k. I’m like you, don’t feel I should stop on a run! Other than for traffic etc!! Happy runs.
