I’m a bit behind on Ju-Ju’s magic plan and hadn’t reached 10k until today !!! One happy lady !!!!
So alarm set, clothes all laid out last night, no excuses I must and WILL do 10k today. So off I go, vest top, baseball cap and snazzy bottoms, what a lovely morning until I got 15 mins into the run and then the heavens opened and not just a little bit of rain but torrential rain 💦 throughout my whole run and got completely soaked through to my “under garments”.
Female runner past me and said “Isn’t it wonderful” and yes it was...only runners understand the feeling of running in the rain.
So I did my first 10k albeit in 1 hour 25 minutes but went slow and so pleased I got there. Now I’m not sure I’m a long runner to be honest but may do it once or twice a month just to push myself.
A big thank you to all you lovely people who have given me advice, spurred me on, made me laugh, inspired me and generally being there to help me along the way and made me think I could do it and I DID !
🎉 💦🏃♀️💦 🎉

Congratulations on completing your first 10k,I am sure you enjoyed your run, I am hoping to run a 10K at the end of August when the parkrun I attend is cancelled due to a political rally taking place in the park, this Wednesday I will run a 8K, the following Wednesday a 9K and the following Saturday morning a 10K
To get your graduation badge and the word GRADUATE10 next to your username leave a message on the August Healthunlocked Graduate10 homepage and tell the administrators that you have ran a 10K.
Thank you AlMorr ! Good luck for your 10K run at the end of the month and sounds like your building up with a few long runs. I have received my badge now and am wearing it with pride.
Thank you Stephen ! My trainers are still wet this morning as I remember sploshing through the biggest puddle and my legs/muscles are reminding me this morning what I did yesterday 💦🤣
Thank you ! How are you doing - hope it’s all going well....not sure I’m a long runner to be honest as found tough too but rain helped and needed to do it as I was so close but not quite there.
After reading my original post I may have been keen to run 10K once or twice a month but think I may have been slightly too excited and as long as I just run that’s ok with me.
Well done you! Your user name is very apt today! 👍😅🏅🎉 I hope you’re admiring your badge - it certainly suits you. 😍
I absolutely love running in the rain too - I was scouring last week’s forecast to pick the day to do my long run. It lashed down on Wednesday, so that’s when I did it! 💦 💦 🏃♀️
Thanks so much Cheeky....got there eventually and super duper happy.
Not sure RunRunRun is a long runner to be honest but wanted to prove to myself I could do it.
The torrential rain definitely helped me and I loved it (we are slightly crazy) think my shoes will be drying out for a few days ! Sopping is an understatement 🤣💦
You must be over the moon 😊, and yes the cool rain is always preferable to the sun 👍
The plan and support is amazing isn't it, I'm only a couple of weeks into Juju's magic plan but with what we've achieved and trained for so far I really believe I can do it too 😀
Thanks so much Run46 it’s the best feeling when you achieve your goal.
Your going to love Ju-Ju’s plan and surprising how much your stamina increases after each week and doing the strength exercises too.
My partner bought me a little gift at the end of each week to keep me motivated and something to look forward to. I was hoping for diamonds and pearls and not Poundland but it’s the thought that counts 🤣👍
Haha, brilliant and sweet, if if they are Poundland pressies 😂
Yes I feel like the strength excersizes are really helpful but must admit the squats made for tired legs on my last run...what doesn't kill you makes you stronger eh! 😆
Hey you!!! FABULOSO achievement...!!! it’s SO GOOD to meet with you again on the 10K home straight!! Loved your post... I think we might both have been unconsciously waiting for the heavens to open. Sunny running = miserable running for me - even my glasses slipped sweatily off my nose!
Re the soaked under-garment situ - à propos someone’s previous post, I sourced some ‘quick drying/microfibre’ pants from Decathlon. Work like a dream they do - on hot days or rainy days!
Anyway - more to the point: what treat did your OH come up with to reward your Gala Run?! (Mine suggested ‘a meal out’ - aka fish and chip night at Weatherspoon’s 🙄) x x
