I’m one of the latest cohort of ju-ju- ’s famous and massively helpful 10k plan, although I have to confess I had begun the plan before the “official” start, so I’m a bit ahead. In fact I did my first 10k run a couple of weeks ago (just a minute or so over the hour, woo-hoo!) but I kept quiet about that because I really wanted to prove to myself that I’d keep it up.
Anyway, it was a beautiful day here so I decided I’d try a route I’d mapped out, running somewhere I’d never investigated before. It’s a 5k out and back and has quite a nice downhill stretch on the way out. But, of course, what goes down, must come up ...
I’m a big fan of the Audiofuel music tracks, and the “mid intensity long run - the first hour” has been the soundtrack to my 10k adventure. I find it very helpful to keeping me running at a pretty constant pace. Particularly up the hills (they’re not that steep round here but do go on a bit) I find it keeps me at a good cadence.
The sunshine certainly made a difference - I’d forgotten how great it feels when it’s like that - but I regretted still having my running jacket on!
Anyway, I’ve now completed 10k number three and think I can finally say to myself that it has become, and will remain, a part of my running routine. Maybe that half marathon doesn’t seem so out of the question any more ...
