A bit excited as I’ve just signed up to do the Great South Run this October. This time last year I hadn’t even started c25k. I honestly only started to join in with work colleagues as part of a staff wellbeing excerise. Does anyone else remember that first 20 minute run in week 5? That was where I fell in love with running. Now through the 10k barrier, I’m aiming for 10 miles. Suddenly the word Marathon could feasibly be in my vocabulary sometime in the next couple of years. Who would’ve thought it?!🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Very exciting! I have done the GSR twice now - it's a really well organised (and huge) event! Will hopefully run it for the third time this year! Happy running!🙂

Yes I remember that 20 minute run well! That sense of achievement (coupled with a bit of unbelief!) was addictive. 😀

Living in Portsmouth, I have thought about the GSR but should probably get a 10k event under my belt first.....

I remember the three minute runs, I actually came so close to crying it was insane. I remember stumbling over a log on the path I was running, praying to hear it was over, everything hurting and wanting to give up.

I remember the first try at a twenty minute run, almost sprinting at the start and gassing out after ten minutes or so, and wanting to kick myself, but I'd had around five hours sleep and had been working all week.

And now? I hit 6k today, (again, got to 8 last time before injury) and I'm gonna slowly get up to 10, before going for ten miles, then an HM, hopefully a winter one. But it'll be a slow increase and a slow HM. If it even happens this year.

No pressure, just some nice runs, two or three times a week.

I started running in 2015 and remember W5R3 very well. I remember looking at it when I started C25k and thinking that’s not possible. I remember the elation when I achieved. I ran GSR in 2017 and am signed up to do it again this year. It’s a great event and a nice, straightforward, flat course. I am sure you will love it. Well done.
